iim7v7im7 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 It should arrive next week. A 200w, class D, solid state, 1x10", 27 lb., 16.5H x 14.5W x 10.5D combo amp. Stay tuned...
MartyGrass Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 I believe you will like it a lot. If you haven't seen this you'll find it very helpful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zIwLovUOic
barrymclark Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 That is a very cool demo, Marty. I have watched that one a few times.
iim7v7im7 Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 Yeah, I have seen that as well...(thanks) I will be curious to see how it compares to my Acoustic Image Clarus 2R Series III and Raezer's Edge Nighthawk 10ER rig when playing my archtop. I am hoping that the EQ controls are useful, reverb is for natural and less directional cabinet.
Genericmusic Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 It should arrive next week. A 200w, class D, solid state, 1x10", 27 lb., 16.5H x 14.5W x 10.5D combo amp. Very cool! Congratulations.
peterbright Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 That video is why I bought an SE200 Hybrid...with a tube preamp and reverb driver it doesn't have the Buff control
iim7v7im7 Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 Mine should arrive this Wednesday. It is 33% smaller and 44% lighter than my Redplate Blackverb Standard which is a compact tube amp. I am hoping that I like the way that it sounds. If anyone is interested, I am thinking of letting go my Acoustic Image Clarus 2R Series III Head, Raezer's Edge Nighthawk 10ER cabinet and Lil' Dawg D-Lux. Send me a PM.
peterbright Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Used the final settings as in the video and voila...a sound made in heaven.
iim7v7im7 Posted February 2, 2014 Author Posted February 2, 2014 Isn't the SE200 a 35 lb. amp with a larger cabinet with a 15" neo speaker as well as the tube preamp option? They used to be quite popular with pedal steel players.
peterbright Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Yes, it is a little above 35lbs and that 15 is great!
iim7v7im7 Posted February 3, 2014 Author Posted February 3, 2014 Glad you like it! I am looking for a smaller amp. My tube amp is compact, but weighs 48 lb. The RE200 weighs 27 lb.
rockabilly69 Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 That is a great sounding amp for that type of tone! From what I hear there's a great amount of clean headroom is on tap along with really smooth clean tone.
iim7v7im7 Posted February 4, 2014 Author Posted February 4, 2014 Yeah, I am curious to see what it will do. I suspect tomorrows snow/ice storm may put delivery off by a day. Scot B told me that the amp/preamp/speakers being used for the last year or so is optimized over earlier models (always the story, isn't it). Scot also happens to own a Comins archtop, and he uses his to empirically dial in his newer amps. Stay tuned...
iim7v7im7 Posted February 6, 2014 Author Posted February 6, 2014 Amp has arrived. The box is ice cold so I will wait for it to warm to RT....:-)
iim7v7im7 Posted February 8, 2014 Author Posted February 8, 2014 I will start a new thread tomorrow...:-)
