Davec629 Posted February 3, 2014 Author Posted February 3, 2014 I just ran into a picture of a control plate that said H-140P. When I looked at the control cavity, what I thought was poplar, is the maple cap. I also thought it was do a great impression of mahogany.

Davec629 Posted February 4, 2014 Author Posted February 4, 2014 No, mine doesn't but another member had a P next to his H-140. I was mistaken about mine being poplar. The bottom of the control cavity turned out to be the maple top, not poplar.
Davec629 Posted February 5, 2014 Author Posted February 5, 2014 I really had no idea how expensive Heritage was until I started looking for another. It doesn't look like I'm going to get another for $700.

Davec629 Posted February 5, 2014 Author Posted February 5, 2014 I wonder if the poplar models were all solid colors.
PunkKitty Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 I'm pretty sure they were. Poplar can have some nasty looking green mineral streaks. It doesn't take stain well. But it takes paint very well and it's great for solid color guitars.
Davec629 Posted February 5, 2014 Author Posted February 5, 2014 Sometimes your better off not knowing what its made of.
DetroitBlues Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 I wonder if the poplar models were all solid colors. I wonder if the poplar H140's weren't popular. Never saw one myself...
Blunote Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Here's a nice H150P gold top or sale in the Detroit area for $999. Seems like a fair price. I had one and really liked it. http://detroit.craigslist.org/mcb/msg/4305431758.html

Davec629 Posted February 5, 2014 Author Posted February 5, 2014 I like the black accent (Bonamassa style). The black H-140 I had years ago had to be poplar. All solid black. I'm going to sell my last strat and save up for a Heritage semi-hollow.
Blunote Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Yep, this one is an H150P with the poplar body. Appears to be in very good shape. Looks like the pickups have been changed out as well.
Davec629 Posted February 5, 2014 Author Posted February 5, 2014 I'm trying to avoid the temptation of changing my pickguard, pickup rings and so on. The only thing I really miss is having the trapezoid inlays like the 150.
