17571 Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 I love archtops and have owned a countless number of vintage and new Gibsons, epi's, boutiques and yes Heritage. I bought my first Heritage Eagle new in 1988 (a ASB all mahogany) for $900.00 with added tone control. I have never like the tone of humbucker pickups played at living room volume levels. Because of that I avoided some great deals on among others, Heritage super eagles. I recently took the plunge on a great buy on a used sweet 16 in OSB that had been ordered like a mini Kenny Burrell concert model with a HRW built in pickup. WOW for the first time I got a really nice mellow recording tone at volume level 2!!! So now I want to order or locate one of the big boys NEW with a neck HRW only to discover Heritage doesn't make the HRW pickup any longer. So I purchased a pair of used gold HRW's over the weekend thru a heritage owner club member but they came without rings. So now, as Heritage is closed, I'm wondering if they will retro fit my used pickups (neck only) on a new order, or should I search for a used model that might have them already? As I want old style sunburst that might not happen for quite awhile.
SouthpawGuy Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Firstly, Welcome to the HOC ! Heritage will fit pickups supplied by the customer to new build guitars, at least that was the case a year or two ago. They used to also upgrade older guitars with HRWs at the factory. My own '86 VIP2 was upgraded to HRWs maybe four years ago now.
skydog52 Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 You shouldn't have any problem providing your own pickups. Order away!
Steiner Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 You'll need to order through a dealer; I highly recommend Greenoakguitar.com. The owner, Paul, is a stellar guy to work with. Welcome to the HOC.
