augfive Posted February 21, 2014 Author Posted February 21, 2014 And larger .... . WOW! that IS striking.
augfive Posted February 21, 2014 Author Posted February 21, 2014 question: do they still make the Alex Scholnik model? Would it be cheaper to order the upgrades to sorta match that model, instead of paying for the signature on the head stock( which I dont need)?
Yooper Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 A 150 with humbuckers will be a fine guitar...then you may want one with P-90s...I did.

Number8 Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 That custom body les Paul is the ugliest thing I've seen since the Firebird X I think the contours are gorgeous.
volhoo Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 You can see my new custom H150 build at this link: http://www.heritageownersclub.com/forums/topic/25621-ngd-actually-ngw-new-guitar-week/?hl=volhoo The only thing I wish I would have done is the belly cut. I am very happy with it. -

volhoo Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Not really sure - I didn't specify ultra, just curly top maple. augfive Posted February 21, 2014 Author Posted February 21, 2014 After talking with Graham at Wolfe guitars ,I'm a little closer! He sent me pics of different finishes on 155's. For finish its between Dark Almond and Vintage Wineburst. Going with bound headstock and inlaid logo too. Fingerboard- dark Rosewood Pick guard- either trans black with binding, or same finish as guitar

big bob Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Go for an ultra top, and a tummy cut. Don't let Jay fool you, all heritages have a long tenon and have for several years now.
Millennium Maestro Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I have a few strong opinions: 1 - I believe 150s look 10X better with bound and inlayed headstocks. 2 - Get a neck carve you can appreciate, Try Jays stuff out and let him know what feels the best. 3 - Heritage uses excellent wood and most flametops are really nice flame pattern you dont need Ultra. 4 - 150s are average at the 9.5 -10 pound area, Belly cut is an excellent upgrade (Deluxes have all the above features with Duncan 59s AND are serial # with a sequential Limited run ID #) 5 - One of my favorite 150s has a thin body, which I hardly see but completely love. 6 - No pickguard Advice, if you pick VWB do a little share photos of you VWB thread and get a good idea how you want it to look... This color looks great or looks so so. Checkout the Sunset Burst Finish(SSB) SSB not ultra VWB not ultra VSB Vintage Sunburst non ultra top Almond burst Deluxe, comes with matching flamed headstock
augfive Posted February 21, 2014 Author Posted February 21, 2014 Not really sure - I didn't specify ultra, just curly top maple. Here is my spec I sent to my dealer - Jay Wolfe. I'm going with pretty much same specs except no bigsby and going with Tone Pros, I may hold off on the upgraded pick gaurs also since I won't even have it installed at first. Few mentions of belly cut here..... I actually don't want the weight cut under 9lbs, I like 'em heavier.buy, I do like the look and feel. Also, I'm getting it Plekk'ed. Still haven't decided on finish though. - Heritage H-150 CM (Curly Maple) LW (Chambered) OSB (Original Style Sunburst) Body: Curly Maple top, Honduran Mahogany back and sides with cream binding Finish: Nitrocellulose laquer Neck: One piece honduran mahogany Long neck tenon option CTS control Pots w/ Spraque caps Fingerboard: Rosewood (dark colored, well grained) Fretboard Inlays: mother of pearl “Trapezoidal, or crown” inlays. Blunote Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Of the two finishes you've narrowed it to, I'd go with Vintage Wineburst. Stunning look. Also, Seth Lover pickups are fantastic as I imagine the SD Antiquities are as well. Many here favor Thobacks, and I've heard that WCR Crossroads or Darkburst pickups are excellent choices if you're going for a vintage PAF tone. Check them out.
augfive Posted February 22, 2014 Author Posted February 22, 2014 Thanks! All good suggestions. Hard to believe that VWB is not an ultra top. Beautiful finish and grain. I know the necks will all differ slightly, but I stressed that I want a 59' neck feel. Not tapered, thick but not huge baseball bat either.I did not talk to him about fretboard radius yet. But I like 9.5, which I'm sure they can do.
yuominae Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 The matching headstock looks awesome! Maybe not everyone's taste though...
H Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 I did not talk to him about fretboard radius yet. But I like 9.5, which I'm sure they can do. I doubt you'll get a Tune-o-matic style bridge that will handle that neck radius.
skydog Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Just tell 'em to build you one that gets the sounds of both hot lanta and dickey's red top all in one!
heritagefan7 Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Great ideas all around. Good luck on whatever you choose. My 150 is a gem....And Skydog---Beautiful gits!
