skydog Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 I know this has been asked/answered before because I've seen it, but can't remember. What does the term classic mean if anything on the model label? Mine reads H-150 CM Classic VSB.
barrymclark Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Not sure but it seems to designate a more stripped down look. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk
Yooper Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 I think "Classic" 150's are the ones with stock SD '59s and upgraded bridge/tail piece, now standard.
skydog Posted February 23, 2014 Author Posted February 23, 2014 The bridge is stamped gotoh, and the tailpiece is stamped made in west germany. It came with the jb/pg pups but i doubt they were stock. I think gibson classic designation is a lesser model, don't know about heritage.
SouthpawGuy Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 I'd be 99% certain that "Classic" denoted the pickups were not the then stock Schaller, but Duncans. Usually '59s.
DavesNotHere Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 The Classic designation was a Jay Wolfe idea. It signifies that it came with Duncan '59s instead of Schaller's that were standard at the time. I got this from the horse's mouth.
