Keith7940236 Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Last week was a double new amp week for me. The first is one that I have been working on for quite awhile. KBP810 built me a modified Princeton Blackface Reverb chassis.. Instead of trem, it has a third tone control and a presence pot. I had a local builder make a cabinet for it and installed a Warehouse Garage Speaker 12" speaker. The sound is absolutely out of this world. The second is a solid state 1982 Yamaha G50 112ii that I purchased from the original owner for $100.00. Initially it had some very noisy pots, but after a thorough cleaning with Deoxit, it works as well as the day it was new. For those not familiar with this amp, it can not be beat for warm clean jazz tones. It has a parametric eq and a full sized spring reverb. I've been looking for one of these for awhile and was very fortunate for find one about two miles from my house.
tulk1 Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Those both look like fantastic amps! Bet that old Yammy gets loud and clean!!
Vanschoyck Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 That's pretty exciting. Wish I could hear that pretty brown alligator amp! (hint . . . )
fxdx99 Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 I used that Yamaha combo as my main amp in the 80s into the 90s. A strat straight into it using the 2nd channel overdriven sound, line out to PA, top 40 rock stuff. Worked very well. That first amp looks fantastic. Congrats on both!
DetroitBlues Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 KBP makes some killer amps. But family and other hobbies have taken his time from us...
kbp810 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Very well done with the cab! Nice grab on the yamaha as well
RhoadsScholar Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Brian's stuff is top notch. Love the old Yamaha's too..... Nice scores!
