Gitfiddler Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Okay the latest.... You will get your 24.75 scale, it is only the 25" scale Bill and Marv refuse to now do for some unknown reason. They did a 25" Johnny smith Rose for ten years, and after losing the endorsement, they continued to build many special order 25" scale eagle size instruments. For some unexplained reason the 25" scale is no longer available at Heritage ( at least for my order). OK, tell them you'd like a Johnny Smith trc. That'd make it an official/unofficial JS model. THEN would they do a 25 scale for you?
peterbright Posted March 3, 2014 Author Posted March 3, 2014 Now that makes some sense at least. 24 3/4" or 25 1/2" but not 25". They wouldn't do a Byrdland scale either.

Not making any excuses for Heritage, I don't know how hard it is to modify a 24.75" or 25.5" scale to 25". Maybe it is just too unique a scale for them to want to deal with. Bottom line is at least you got a proper answer, they don't want to make a 25" scale length guitar anymore. I feel bad for you if that is the scale you have to have and they won't want to make it anymore. One last ditch effort I would make, would be to call the Heritage Factory directly and ask Marv or Jim. Just let them know how much this scale length means to you. By calling direct, it might be harder for Marv or Jim to say no to a real live guitarist on the phone. That's what I would do anyhow.
17571 Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I just spoke with Jay (Tues 3-4-14) for the 3rd time. Again, It appears Heritage only has a problem doing a 25" scale. Jay stated again that Heritage did the Johnny Smith "Rose" with a 25" scale for 10 years. Even after they cancelled the model, Heritage continued to do 25" scale special orders guitars for years, until now that is, with mine. Jay stated the spoke with them again and they still won't actually say why, but refuse to build a 25" scale period. They will do a 24.75 with no problem. Sorry for the confusion, Jay initially told me they refused to do a short scale, I took that to mean any short scale. He can't understand why they won't and I can't either, a 25" scale is not an uncommon build
Kuz Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Again, I would call the factory. Marv, didn't want to do a 357, he was talked into by a customer (not a dealer). Marv, didn't want to do a wooden pickguard for a 357, he was talked into it by a customer. Calling doesn't hurt, it is no certainty that they will change their mind, but you never know until you try.
