skydog52 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I was looking in the discontinued model thread and started looking around. I am sure this has been posted but thought I'd share it again. http://www.heritageguitar.com/modelhistory.html
DavesNotHere Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I think it would be cool to see that page updated. I currently own four Heritages that are not on that list but were once catalog items.
tulk1 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I think it would be cool to see that page updated. I currently own four Heritages that are not on that list but were once catalog items. I seriously doubt they could update that. It might be close, which would be cool. But since it stops in 1993 with the Alvin Lee model, well, I doubt anyone over there actually knows when what was released when. Which, to me, is sad.
Vanschoyck Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I would think they have shipping and sales records that would show when models came into being etc. Probably just not a man power priority. There's a book in there somewhere I should think if someone cared to write it.

There's a book in there somewhere I should think if someone cared to write it. From what I recall when the HoC first came into existence and we started interfacing with them, this is not the case. They may have better records of late. But the stories we got were that it was not a priority then. Building them, yes. Tracking them, no. As for the book, yeah!! I would think someone with the time and energy could probably ferret out something close enough to call it good. If they wanted to. There wasn't even a Serial Number database until the new(ish) website came into being a few years back. I don't mean to be a bummer on this issue, but the facts as they were known (or told to us, anyway) is the record keeping was not a priority for Heritage in the past. Would love to wrong, tho'.
Gitfiddler Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Not meaning to hijack this thread, but I have a dumb question. (yes, another one!) With their history of poor record keeping, why does the Heritage website include a "Product Registration" page??? http://www.heritageguitar.com/registration.html
bolero Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 ps why did they start calling the models "140" "150" etc?

They are so old school there and there is not a lot of extra $$$ around to change that. Unfortunately
Redsand Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I wonder how many "Alvin Lee" H-535's were produced? The pickup config seems like it would be fun to have in that guitar, I've been listening to a lot of Ten Years After lately and often marvel at Alvin's tonal diversity!

Along with a link to the HOC.
SouthpawGuy Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 No 357? .. or 170, 157, 525, 530, 110 etc
chico Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 That came with the new website launch. 2010, maybe? Along with a link to the HOC. And maybe the answer to the Q is because even Heritage recognizes their lack of early record keeping and thus input from owners via registration at the "new" site means a database can therefore be started. I dunno just a thought. I remember back when I ask Bill Paige on the phone details on a H150 I owned at the time, there was a way to look up the details of builds from the era of my serial #.
NoSnowBlower Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Every guitar gets logged in. Up in paint. Color, model, date, and #.
Houston535 Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I was there about a year ago and we were looking at the records for my good friends Gary Moore edition. Not sure what I was expecting but- the official records are some notes in an old spiral bound notebook. Date, then the type, S/N and finish of the guitar. Not fancy but Marv found what he was looking for.
big bob Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I have an E code Stat DLX. I had a B code H-120
SouthpawGuy Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 The VIP1 and VIP2 aren't listed on that page either.

Not fancy but Marv found what he was looking for. I've seen it too. When I was there picking up my 357, I brought my H-480 for Marv to check out. He went off and got "The Book" to look up how many he actually built. So, the info is there, I just suppose that they just aren't too interested in compiling it into a searchable database.
DetroitBlues Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I wonder how many H140's were made in 1985 and how many were not original spec like my old 140 with a bound ebony fretboard with mini block inlays and inlayed headstock.
schundog Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Mobile Filing System=Marv's shirt pocket. I don't think I've ever seen him at the factory without 2 or three of these build tickets in his breast pocket.
tulk1 Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Every guitar gets logged in. Up in paint. Color, model, date, and #. That is GOOD news!
tdrommond Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 What would be cool is if they'd publish the registry that they've compiled so far. They could keep privacy in check by just using initials and the location (eg. T.D. - Norman, OK). That would give a good idea of how many 'serious' Heritage owners there are . It would also be interesting to see the global distribution. If it's a big deal, I have a data solutions company. My programmers can digest any spreadsheet or database file they can export. We keep up with over 14,000 cars a month spread over 3 states and 60+ dealerships. Some are big stores with really nice exports. Some of the little corner lots are running the whole place out of a hand written accounting ledger. We even get handwritten lists faxed to us. I bet we can get a list of registered owners together. I'd even work with faxed copied of the spiral notebook they have now, don't care how sketchy it is. Marv's mobile system, too. We can make chicken salad out of chickencrap. Just takes lots of mayo
