brentrocks Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 It got here a day earlier than estimated...I was happy about that. This one has been played...kinda like the first one I had, honest play wear, no abuse. This is #38 from the second run of Gary Moores...the ALMSB run. Its a 1991. Its all stock....EMG 81s, Schaller tailpiece, Schaller roller bridge, nickel Grovers. Both pickup rings were broke so I replaced them. It features a one piece mahogany body, rosewood board with traps, and a beautiful bookmatched maple top. It weighs in at 9.75 lbs. Lot of dings and dimples. Pick wear and moderate worming. From 4 feet away it looks perfect...but from the right angle they show up. The neck is a 60s slim, one piece mahogany. The frets have normal wear on the E, B and G...first 3 frets mainly. I have only had about 10 minutes to plug it into the Badcat....and it sounded incredible. Very punchy tone, like you would expect from an EMG...tone report will hopefully happen tomorrow. I was a little disappointed in the amount of beauty marks, but for what I paid, I guess i'm not gonna bitch too much...it plays great and has a great feel...that's what counts.
heritagefan7 Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 It looks great in the Pics Brent---congrats on a special NGD. Enjoy it.
Blunote Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Congratulations. I'm curious about how those EMGs will sound through the 1974x clone.
schundog Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Man, that thing is gorgeous, Brent. I hope you enjoy it!
Genericmusic Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Now all you have to do is learn the cycle (circle) of fourths and you'll be all set.
tonedeaf Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Very nice. Pardon my ignorance, but what distinguishes it as a Gary Moore?
greenya Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 wow! the best looking H-150 I've ever seen =) Congrats! Sure, you'll play her well ))
bolero Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 oh man, that is a killer top...stunning array of flame on that snatch! I'd be sorely tempted to put an ABR-1 & normal tailpiece on there. and some throbak's but I guess that's heresy
Schroerg Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Same year as my H-157 - awesome Heritage year, lucky year!
buzzy Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 You've got another stunning guitar. I think the back is just as beautiful as the front. Congratulations.
yoslate Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Great top, great color! And "beauty marks"...exactly! Love a player! She's a honey Brent! Congrats on the snag; I know how much you love those G.M.'s
Beagle216 Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 That guitar has the craziest flame I have seen to date! Wowee! Nice grab Brent, the beauty marks are character building!
tulk1 Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 It's a looker for sure. Are you going to leave the EMGs in this one?
