Didn't know where to post (here or in family tree) but here goes....

I want to replace the current floating pickup in my Heritage Johnny Smith and if it works out, also on my Sweet 16. I've read you can send your pickguard/pickup rig to him and he'd take care of it.

I'm wondering who I need to contact. All I see on the KA website is a contact for a distributor in Florida. Hoping someone can shed some light on this.

Try sending him an email. He is very helpful, especially for custom winds and installation. Make sure you get his custom paf, NOT the inferior offshore versions.

Also, you might get the pickup from Kent and send the pickguard assembly sent to the Heritage factory for installation. I had mine done by a local guy.

Good luck!

Gotcha. Thanks for the follow up and PM. I just spoke to the people at Archtop.com as well. He said any reputable luthier should be able to do it as well. I'll probably just take it into SF Guitarworks.

I keep forgetting you are located here in the Bay Area! DOH!

Yes, SFGW will do an excellent installation for you. Brawer's team is the best.

I sent my pickguard with the Heritage #1 to Kent and he rewound it for me. It was a vast improvement over the original. The #3 that I have now really sounds nice. Not as crisp as the KA, but still very nice.

no need for a second luthier. send him the pickguard with pickup attached. he'll remove the guts of the heritage pickup and replace or rewind with his. about 125. cheap, great upgrade.

Count me in as another fully satisfied handwound KA owner...in the words of Tony the tiger...they're GREAT!
