Kuz Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Tonepro's nashville hardward and CTS pots are now standard on Heritage guitars. Other than the fact that some may prefer an ABR bridge, what more do you want as "standard" hardware & electronics? The days of the mexican pots and schaller hardware have been gone since 2007. I have wondered why guitar manufacturers pinch pennies on pots, wiring, jacks, etc. how much more would good stuff cost? I think they should make them an option on all levels of guitars. Any electonic package or hardware IS available is specified on a custom order (I am not sure about the ABR bridge, that's something you might need to call to find out).

Yes but the Tonepros supplied bridges are the heavy stuff, and the pot values are all over the place, maybe spend some time matching the pots, and supplying with good caps. And they should use braided wire which neither of my Heritages had.

Funny Daniel, I just put a Nickel Tonepros AVRII bridge on my Mahogany McInturff Carolina and the Tonepro was lighter than the Gibson Historic ABR1 bridge it came with (plus no rattles)!!!
rockabilly69 Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 consider yourself lucky. The last three lightweight tonepros I put on ALL rattled, and I hate those stupid setscrews! Fortunately for me Tonepros gave me them! BTW I can't believe you screwed with the TM formula:)
Kuz Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 consider yourself lucky. The last three lightweight tonepros I put on ALL rattled, and I hate those stupid setscrews! Fortunately for me Tonepros gave me them! BTW I can't believe you screwed with the TM formula:) Well, here is the whole story... I was buying the TM Mahog Carolina and the bridge was just rattling all over to where I could not play the guitar (very unusual for Terry). So I asked Bob Willcutt if he could fix the bridge so I could hear the guitar. He agreed that the action was to low and the bridge rattled. So instead of working on the original bridge, he put on a Gibson Historic "wireless" TOM from a custom shop 335 he just set up. The guitar sounded great and I didn't give the bridge another thought until a couple of weeks ago. I just happened to be looking (and drooling) at the Mahog Carolina when I notice that string spacing was WAY OFF. The bridge saddles were obviously filed for the 335 not the TM. SO I ordered new saddles off ebay (they ended up being thye wrong ones), I ordered a new Gibson Historic Wireless ABR1 (the saddles rattled and I had to use "blue" tight bond to hold them in place). The other TM Spanish Cedar Carolina has a Tonepros AVRII on it and it sounds and performs great. SO I bought a TP AVRII for the Mahog Carolina and I could not be happier, it sounds and performs GREAT!!! BTW, Terry has a new website and a new business partner (McInturffGuitars.com) and he is using the TP AVRII bridges as standard hardware for his Carolina Customs.
rockabilly69 Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 I think TM should rethink using Tonepros! Check the pot metal content on those bridges. For what he charges, he should be using Callaham, or Pigtail. Ask Tonepros themselves and they will tell you what their ABR bridges are made of. If he's chasing burst tone on the Carolinas, he should be using Zinc bridges with brass saddles like the originals.
