What strings on H575?

Just got my Heratige H575 Custom, and the strings are roundwound crap. I play mostly old classic country. This is my first electric archtop, so what strings would you suggest? Would TI flatwounds be good?

well, i don't know about playing country, but my 575 loves TI flatwounds. great 50's-60's jazz sound.

TI's are very well regarded, but I like my 575 strung with D'Darrio Chrome 11s. No squeaks, still gives a pretty clear, bright, tone. Worth a shot for the money.

Good Luck! Let's see some pics of that guitar!

Chromes are good too, and more economical.

Wouldn't nickel roundwounds be just the thing for "old classic country"? It would seem that flatwounds would be too mellow. But perhaps it's all in defining "old classic country".

+1

TI BeBop round wounds would probably sound really great. Sadowsky Black Label nickels would probably do the trick as well.

She's a beauty. I vote for TI's.

Wow, 40 ducks for a set of strings..... How do you afford this stuff.. I change strings on something at least once a month. That's almost 500 per year in strings alone...

Mind is now blown...

While TI's are amazing strings, so is their price. BeBops are my favorite from this company.

Also, check out LaBella strings. Very high quality and a much more reasonable price.

I've tried them all, and keep coming back to LaBella due to the bang-for-buck value.

That's a great looking H575 you've got there!! Welcome to the HOC.

Yeah, wow. They've gone up since I used 'em. I used to pay 15 -16 per set,

The TI's were 25.99 at Musicians Friend with free shipping. I will try some of your other suggestions on the next set. Thanks so much for all your help. I think this is going to be a great forum.

You don't change flatwound strings nearly as often as round wound electrics. If I change flatwound TI more than once a year on my archtops with regular play, then something is wrong. I can go through "regular" nickel plated electric strings about every 10 days to 2.5 weeks with regular play.
