md54 Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Hi, First post here! Long time ago I owned an early H575 with 2 P/Us. I liked the guitar very much apart from the skinny neck at the nut and the ugly head stock design (why don't they improve this?). The guitar got sold. I wondered if they now make the nut width a full 1 11/16'' ? I can't find this info on the Heritage site which I have to say is not very good. Does anyone know? Also does anyone know if Heritage would make a 330 with the neck set at the better 330 position of the original Gibbo 330? I live in hope! Cheers.
H Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Welcome to the HOC What ugly headstock? Heritage is a custom shop essentially. Provide your specs and, within reason, they'll accommodate your requests. They produce thicker necks on the whole these days, apparently, and your nut width requirement shouldn't be an issue. As for the original 330 depth neck, I'd say it's most likely they wouldn't build a 530 that way, as the design they use is the same as for the 535 and 555. That's just my opinion though. Ask them!
H Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Like this? He means the 16th fret neck/body joint version on pre-1967 (ish) ES-330s.
md54 Posted March 26, 2014 Author Posted March 26, 2014 Thanks guys, On the majority of Gib. 330s the bridge is set closer to the end pin resulting in a shorter neck than the 335. Later on in the late 60's I think they moved the bridge up the body like in the picture above making these 330s have the same neck as the 335. I like the shorter neck option. I might ask them if it's possible. Actually the slim headstocks on the solid bodies and the thinlines (as above) are cool but the jazz guitars are all wrong. They look a mess. Cheers.
jimsoloway Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 My 575 was a custom order and they built me a neck to my specs: 1 11/16 at the nut; .860 at the first fret; .96 at the 12th fret and a full C profile. Nothing skinny about this neck in any direction.
