PunkKitty
It's a nice amp but it weighs a ton. And my semi hollows sounded like crap through it. The solid bodies sounded good. But the semis just sounded flat. I could have replaced the tone switch with a pot and voided the warranty. It probably would have improved the amp. But then I checked the resale value on the Excelsior. It's about what I paid. So I decided to return it while I still could. I'm going back to my Kustom Defender. It consistently sounds good with every guitar I play.So for those looking for a Fender Excelsior in the Chicago area, there's one at the Sam Ash in Lombard. DetroitBlues
I don't blame you. Sounded best when cranked. I couldn't crank it. Looks cool, but I think you did the right thing. I bought a used one for $200, but returned it because I had other amps that outperformed it.
ScottNaylor
Sorry it didn't work out for you, PunkKitty. That must have been frustrating to say the least. Sam Ash Lombard is just down the road from me and a favorite haunt. Maybe I can get over there today.
