peterbright Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 If you were ordering a custom Heritage Archtop without any pickups, what features would you want to include. Spruce over Mahogany, All Mahogany, Spruce over Maple, what bracing, tap tuned, tail piece etc.?
ingeneri Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Definitely spruce top, maple back, and mable neck with ebony board. If for home play, 17" X3" and X bracing. If for big band performance then 18" and parallel bracing. Would be tempted to try a 25" scale, or play it safe with 25.5".
big bob Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Golden eagle or sweet 16. Get a floater on the pick guard for the best of both worlds.
peterbright Posted April 1, 2014 Author Posted April 1, 2014 Have 2 Super Eagle builds in the works one with a singlr floater and one with two set in Seth Lovers. Really want a straight acoustic for the next one.
rockabilly69 Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I'd like to try one of those in lefty some day WOW!!!! Now that's a guitar I could sit down and write some songs with! That's a beauty!
bolero Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 if you get an Eagle with a floating pup, you can just remove the pickguard and bingo it's a straight acoustic actually I doubt there is any sound difference if you just leave the guard & pup on there, it's not touching the top

peterbright Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 I like that suggestion...had not given it any thought before.
RhoadsScholar Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 [ k +1 on the Non Cutaway. This guitar has amazing acoustic projection. Non Cutaway if i were to go acoustic
big bob Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Don't you have an acoustic only 575 ? She is Ned's now.
SouthpawGuy Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 image.jpg She is Ned's now. So she is .... I'm guessing spruce top, ebony fingerboard ? .
peterbright Posted April 3, 2014 Author Posted April 3, 2014 Talked to Jay Wolfe today and he has 16" and 18" Heritage full archtop acoustics with no cutaways in his personal collection and is sending pics! He suggests parallel bracing as I like a bassier acoustic sound.
