joesupposta Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Any thoughts on replacing the wood bridge with a TOM style bridge? Seems like it could be more acurate for intonation purposes. Thanks.
SouthpawGuy Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 I bought my 575 Custom used and had the dealer, Wolfe Guitars, replace the stock bridge with a TOM / rosewood one. I also had them fix it to the top with double sided tape. I'm basically a rock / blues player so I wanted to be able to bend strings on it with lighter gauge strings installed ( 10s as opposed to say 12s) and be able to intonate it for whatever gauge used. It's currently set up with 12s, has been since I bought it actually ,but the option is there to go to 10s or lighter. .
yoslate Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Intonation's always a good thing! But there will be a noticeable difference in tone between the two bridges....
jazzrat Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 A definite difference in tone...not better or worse. For my preferences I like the tune-o-matic because the 575 is actually a very good rock guitar and intonates better with a T.O bridge and my light strings. With a T.O. it can also have that modern Kurt Rosenwinkle, Johnathan Kreisberg, Gilad Heksleman kind of tone but still darken up for Jim Hall's murkier tone. A rosewood bridge sounds great but is a little more narrow in the tones available. my .02
joesupposta Posted April 4, 2014 Author Posted April 4, 2014 Thanks for the input. looks like I will pull the trigger on this one soon.
peterbright Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Nothing keeps you from having both (just not at the same time).
duaneallen Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I've been thinking of adding a tune-o-matic to my 575 as well. Anyone recommend a certain type or brand?
