gpuma
I think this is the only pedal I might consider at the moment. There are so many, however and the prices are all over the map. You suggestion?
ScottNaylor
One of the great things about the saturated delay market is you can find one with only the features you value most. For simple slap back the Way Huge Aqua Puss reissue is sweet, or an old DM-2 (the Aqua's grandparent) if you have access to one. Along with these, two other personal favorites are the discontinued Subdecay Echobox (the term "musical" is overused, but the gorgeous chorus modulation and voicing of the Subdecay are special, as is its wonderful switchable buffer), and the might Analogman ADRX20 w/amazeo rig. The AM set up is a little inelegant from an ergonomic standpoint, but it covers even presets and tap along with adjustable modulation with world-class tone. As you've guessed, I'm a big analog delay fan. Have fun with the quest!
rockabilly69
If you want a vintage analog sounding Delay, the Boss RE20 is a great one. Tap tempo, tone controls for the repeats, on board lo-fi reverb, nice preamp, it's got what you need, and it's very reliable! The price is reasonable at around $250. SouthpawGuy
Simple to use, compact and sounds great -- MXR Carbon Copy Less intuitive to use, larger and more expensive, but programmable --- TC Electronics Nova Delay

Beagle216
My favorite delay is the Supa Puss. I went through probably six or seven delays before I finally found this one. The reason I enjoyed it so much is the tone is fantastic, it's all analog until you hit a certain milliseconds of delaying, and it switches over to digital automatically. It has tap tempo and you can do quarter notes dotted eighth notes and several other subdivisions. I would never consider a different delay. Unless of course I have two delays on the board. But I don't for see myself doing that.
DetroitBlues
I think you need to understand your delay needs. Digital and Analog sound different. Digital repeats exactly what you are playing, keeping the notes clear. Analog repeats them, but washes out the sound a little bit at a time. (best way I can think of to describe it). I like Digital Delay. Had a couple Analogs and I didn't like them. However, I'm not for long repeats or delay timing (think of the Edge from U2). I use mine for a slapback effect, sort of how Joe Bonammassa uses his delays. Of course being the king of cheap, I don't spend much on my pedals (usually). I really like the Delta Labs DD1 Digital Delay (No longer available new). Sound really good to me and suits my purposes just fine. Not bad for a $25 pedal. CJTopes
Can't go wrong with TC Electronics or Rocktron Intellifex I have a TC Electronics delay. It's very versatile and sounds great. Plus you can download preset settings that were created by various pro artists. I dont use a fraction of what that pedal can do. Plus the price is good.. GuitArtMan
+1000000000000000000 I'll see your +1000000000000000000 and raise you +2000000000000000000. That's for the Strymon El'Capistan btw. If you're on a budget, the MXR Carbon Copy sounds great for not much $.

SouthpawGuy
+1, and reasonably priced. Another benefit is it runs from a 9v battery if needed, battery might not last too long, but most of the larger units will only run from a power supply. JeffB
I dont use delay much and dont seem to be picky about it. I dont need tap. Ive had a few delay pedals despite that. I like to use two delays, one short and one longer. Im not sure exactly what each equals but I think its around 250-300ms with one repeat and one 500-700ms with a quick fade. Right now it seems to be a boss dd7 and a L6 Echo park but it has been others. They both have shortcomings but they arent terrible.
fxdx99
I suggest you don't delay, Gio... get one right away to plug your marvelous 357 into. All good suggestions above. I've a Carbon Copy, like it's warm sound, smaller footprint on the board, and it's modulation effect.
big bob
Hands down best delay ever.... If you can find one. Electro Harmonix deluxe memory man! The big box one.. As used by the Edge and countless others.
bobmeyrick
I have a TC Electronic Flashback - a great little pedal which has a lot of features, including reverse delay and looping (up to 40 seconds), and is one of the TonePrint series. In the UK it is slightly cheaper than the MXR Carbon Copy.

Doesn't color my amps tone at all. Works like a charm.

JeffB
You still got much of a Kiwi accent, Jiff? LOL!! I get called "Jiff" quite a bit. Its not as thick in daily conversation but in more emotional states it is more evident. Any hint of hilarity, sadness, anger, general enthusiasm and even in deep concentration and Im right back there.
