skydog52 Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Mahogany neck would be lighter in weight. Try to get the lightest mahogany rim and back for weight. Here is a pic of rim and middle section. Maple top with mahogany back.
peterbright Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Sitka for the top would probably be lighter...great on full hollowbodies.
MrB Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 I'll have to respectfully disagree about the customer service at Wolfe. After taking my order and money, I never heard from Jay. When I finally called to ask about the status of my build, he had no idea. Told me to call them myself to find out.

tsp17 Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 http://www.greenoakguitar.com While I have not bought a guitar direct from Green Oak/Paul (Skydog52 on HOC) I can testify that he is a very good guy and specs fabulous Heritage guitars. Really knows his stuff. Green Oak specializes in custom Heritage guitar builds. I am the 2d owner of one of his heritage custom designs, and I have to say that it is as fine an instrument as any I have ever played. I have had good experience with Wolf as well, but mine was not a new or a custom build. I bought my 575MH from their pre-owned stock. They have also been very responsive to various inquiries I have made over the years. Both Jay and Graham.
Horace Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 I've had the pleasure of buying two Heritages from Jay Wolfe over the years. Happy to recommend him.
Millennium Maestro Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Doc, I know I am chiming in and chatting late here. Go with a local dealer that you can physically walk into and checkout the product before accepting delivery. If you have more than 1 decision go with the store that has the better tech. I am gonna go there.... I believe personally that the guitar will almost always need tweaking to your style, sometimes adjustments by a highly skilled pro tech. I would myself want to see the guitar and play the guitar as opposed to just accepting a brown box. GuitFid... You the man, if he was in Vegas I will give him the Millie experience!
rstein Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 I've had the pleasure of buying two Heritages from Jay Wolfe over the years. Happy to recommend him. I ordered my first Heritage from Jay which is currently being built and he was very easy to work with. Great customer service.
