brentrocks Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Oh boy! As most of you know i have long missed my old Silverburst LP Custom. I had always wanted a Heritage Silverburst, but it was never offered. So I went out on the search for a project 150 to have refinished in a silverburst. My project took a serious right turn when i discovered a NOS 1994 H 157 Black Beauty a few weeks ago for an INCREDIBLE PRICE!!! That was the perfect guitar for the project, the only thing that needed to be painted was the top!!! This 157 has a super slimm neck, which i love! So i got the 157 home, and it was NEW!!! not a scratch!!! Then i took it to Pete to do the deed! I pulled all the gold hardware before i took it to Pete and also had him install new nickel covered Duncans (pearly gates bridge, jazz neck) with push/pulls. I wasnt expecting it to be done so soon, but he called today! So i made the 20 minute trek to go get it!!! OMG!!! Pete did a wonderful job on the paint!!! I just got home with it, so i have only been able to strum unplugged, but the action is really low, it has a nice ring. it is kinda heavy, prob 10.5 lbs? I cant wait to jam it tomorrow when everybody is gone!!! pushover Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Very cool looking... I do like that silverburst... My immediate reaction was that it was a shame to ruin a perfectly BB for the project, since you could have gotten the same result from refinishing a less well maintained guitar, but hey it's yours and obviously you can do what you want.. I definately like the result!!
big bob Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 wow,wow,..wow,wow,wow.. :afro: :afro: that is totaly cool, you rock dude.. looks like something Ace freely would play. Congrats..
gopeteygo Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Mucho coolness! :afro: Those pups and knobs look very cool against that paintjob.
SouthpawGuy Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y52/ebmmquilt/PROJECT%20SILVERBURST/IMG_0074.jpg[/img] Very slick indeed Brent ! Congrats
Thundersteel Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 An NOS '94? Hot damn! I've always liked the silverbursts. Did they do the back and neck as well?
High Flying Bird Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 That thing looks slick dude! Very nice.

slider313 Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 Real nice Brent. I always liked the silver sparkle Gretsch used to use on their Duo Jets. Maybe Vince and the boys can do a silver sparkle 170 ?

Gitfiddler Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 Brent~ You've got to be the luckiest guitar hootchie in the US! Nicely done. Be sure to tell Pete how much we all love his work. He is truly an artist! 8)

brentrocks Posted October 10, 2008 Author Posted October 10, 2008 some pics i took this morning http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y52/ebmmquilt/PROJECT%20SILVERBURST/IMG_0093.jpg[/img] http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y52/ebmmquilt/PROJECT%20SILVERBURST/IMG_0095.jpg[/img]
freshmattyp Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 For some reason, that guitar just screams "Ace Frehley" to me. Very nice and congratulations.
pro-fusion Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 Brent, that just freakin' rules! Congrats. I'm kind of surprised that Heritage doesn't seem interested in putting out some silverbursts. Maybe that seems a little too "metal" for their target clientele? BTW, that 150/157 combo is almost too much beautiful guitar for one picture.
Kuz Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y52/ebmmq...ST/IMG_0074.jpg Again throwing guitars in the grass??? It must be some funky Michigan custom like like those African women with long necks that the men in the tribe find incredibly hot??!!! longneck_07.jpg
brentrocks Posted October 11, 2008 Author Posted October 11, 2008 like those African women with long necks that the men in the tribe find incredibly hot??!!! they just do that so it is easier to swallow
pushover Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 they just do that so it is easier to swallow  Ever try and drink a yard of ale? I guess they cheat. It can all just stay in the neck
brentrocks Posted October 11, 2008 Author Posted October 11, 2008 i spent a lot of quality time w/ the silverburst 157 today. the neck is amazing, really slim....i got lucky, usually the 157 necks are a little chunkier. it weighs in at 10.5 lbs. i took over to my best friends house, Tom (cowballs 70) he jamed it for a bit too....he is comming over tomorrow to play it again ;D i'm very happy with the pups....pearly gates bridge is very midrangish, bass/throaty, but still agressive enough for a good classic rock drive. the jazz neck is velvety smooth, warm as a lava rock, but punchy. the push pulls add a nice 3rd dimention as well. i think this one was pre-plek, 1994? the frets are perfect, Ren must have done it. effotless playability. after i left tom's...i took it to the local GC, have a couple friends down there, they all took it for a spin too...they all like it as well, one wanted to buy it ;D then i took it home and played it unplugged for a while...it really resonates...lots of sustain. then had to go the the amp again!!! ;D the neck is really a pleasent surprise for me, i feel i got really lucky....i feel bad for the original owner, bought it 14 yrs ago, had a surgery and couldnt play anymore it is definately a keeper!!!
High Flying Bird Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 feel i got really lucky....i feel bad for the original owner, bought it 14 yrs ago, had a surgery and couldnt play anymore If your dumb ass get's back on a "murdercickle" I will buy two cases of oil and drive up there and hold you while your mother beats you. Are the knobs translucent black? They look good!
fxdx99 Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 He shoots... HE SCORES!!!! Seriously beautiful guitar there Brent. Congrats on a project well done. Agree w/HFB - those knobs look killer on it... (althought I differ a bit in view of the wonderful sport of 'cycleing, but that's okay). Karma up, dude! Just need to retake your neon-guitar-face pic w/that guitar now!
