bolero Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 just saw the 575 strings thread...I assume the same recommendations can be made for an Eagle? right now I have roundwound standard electric strings but it's not getting that PHAT jazz gtr sound....I guess I need some flatwounds? thx!
Yooper Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 You won't sound like Wes without flat-wounds...and a lot of practice.
Kuz Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 See my response for the 575 thread..... Same recommendation
Vanschoyck Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 I agree that you should try flats and see how you like them. Remember that there are jazz guys getting great sounds with round wound too. The difference will only be on the wound strings after all. (Hope that's not just stating the obvious.) I've used both on my arch tops and came back to rounds; in fact I still have some unused TI 12's sitting around.
bolero Posted April 24, 2014 Author Posted April 24, 2014 cool thx guys the only xp I have with flats is on my SB-1 P-bass, they sound great one there & are very easy to play I will try them out right now the Eagle sounds a bit too much like an acoustic, with what's on there. they might even be bronze
58super Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Ti 13 flats. They don't seem to have as much tension as D'Addario flats. The 12 Fret carries them.
peterbright Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 TI 13's are what I use and add a flat wound b string.
