Hi all,

I am a new Heritage owner!

Well, it isn't with me at the moment, but it will be before the end of the week.

I have an 'old shape' 1988 H140CM on its way to me, and I can't wait for it to get here!!

I've enjoyed reading all of the Heritage Guitars reviews online, and I have spent a lot of time flicking through this forum.

In fact, it was the posts on this forum that convinced me to take the plunge and go for it.

The only downside is that the case is non-original - I would've loved a genuine Heritage case with it, but ah well.

Can these be bought separately..?

The guitar is all original - what's everyone's views on the Schaller pickups in solid bodied Heritage guitars?

I know there are a load of threads out there already talking about the Schallers, but I was wondering if anyone had experience with them in this specific model, and how did you like them?

The guitar is in superb condition considering it is 25/26 years old.

I've read nothing but great things about Heritage build quality, so I am very excited to get my hands on it and see for myself.

Also, guys in the UK, what would a guitar like this usually sell for over here?

I think I may have got a pretty good deal, but not 100% sure. I'll wait and see what you say before I tell you what I forked out

Looking forward to reading some replies about the Schallers in H140s.

Cheers,

Lew

Lew, Welcome to the HOC. And congrats on finding an older H140, especially in the UK. I'd imagine they are quite rare across the pond. And that, is about all the real input I have for an H140. Pics when you get her.

Congratulations! Many love the Schaller pups. Try them and see.

Welcome Lew and I can't wait to hear more from you. I just had some work done on my H155 by a fellow HOC'r so more on that later..

Don't be shy.

Hi Lew, welcome to the HOC and may I be the first to say 'Nice snatch!' ;)

I'm in the UK (near Colchester). 140s pop up from time to time but not often enough to get a good fix on pricing. I'd say if you paid under £800 then you have yourself a lot of guitar for your money.

Mind you, if you'd paid say £650 on the nose for it, you'd have some spare cash for a set of Shed/ Bare Knuckle/Throbak pickups if the Schallers don't float your boat.

Heritage cases are just TKL cases with the logo sprayed on. I wouldn't worry about that.

A welcome from another UK owner,on the Worcs/Shropshire border, and congratulations

on the H140

Welcome aboard. You should find a great group of folks here.

I have an 87 140. Originally it had Schallers but mine really sounded dead. I have Schallers in my 157 and 535 but they sounded completely different, much more to my liking.

I installed some SD Alnico Pro IIs and that got it back to the right spot.

When you get the guitar crank it up and see how they suit you. Also check the pots to see if yu have 500K or 250Ks. They will make a difference.

Enjoy, and feel free to post clips. We love 'em.

congratulations!!

& welcome

like they suggested, check the pots before anything

I can live with the stock Schallers, they aren't crap they are well made. but I much prefer unpotted PAF style pickups....especially for rock music

Welcome and congrats on the NGD. I like guitars with old wood.

See what you think of the Schallers. I had them in a 157 and liked them. Then, after some years, curiosity got the best of me and I installed Seth Lovers. I'd say it's a toss up which I prefer more. The Schallers had a nice clear voice but would get gritty when overdriven. I sold the Schallers though as I was too lazy to put them back in. One thing your Schallers have going for them is that they are already paid for ha ha.

Thanks for all the welcome messages guys!

I think it will be early next week (Monday/Tuesday) now before I get the guitar, but I will be sure to post some pics when she turns up!

I'm guessing you don't live near Cheltenham ;)

Haha you saw it then!

No I'm up in Wigan so that drive was just a bit too much for me!

Plus I can get good courier rates at work so it made no sense to spend a load on petrol travelling down.

The guy I am buying it off seems like a top fella, so I trust that he will take care with the packaging.

All in all, I think £650 is a pretty good deal.

I will give the Schallers a fair chance before I make any decisions.

Pretty sure I have a hot rodded SD set lying around (JB and Jazz) which I could always try if the Schallers aren't to my liking.

Thanks again for all the replies, and I'm looking forward to being an active member on the forum!

Well it has been collected by my courier today, and it should be with me on Tuesday next week (bank holiday delaying things)!

The anticipation's killing me!!

Can't wait for it to show up.

You know heritage guitars are like Lays potato chips. You can't have just one.

Ain't that the truth!

Deleting double post. Sorry

Well, it's here!

Not had chance to take any pictures yet as I've been having it cleaned/set up.

Wasn't in the best of states when I received it - covered in dust/dirt/grime etc.

Could tell it hadn't been used in some time.

However, all the 'gunk' has now been removed from the fingerboard and the body has been cleaned, polished and waxed.

Looks stunning.

Also removed the pickguard as I personally thought it was a bit ugly, and the top is just too nice to have a guard covering part of it.

It sounds incredible and the neck is a delight!

The actual condition of the guitar (minus the dirt that was on it) is fantastic.

Only a few VERY light surface scratches on the back - and that's it!

I will hopefully have some pictures uploaded tonight.

I'm picking up a Fender 65 Deluxe Reverb Reissue later, so I will get pics of them together - I think they're gonna be some team!!

Also got my hands on an original Blade R4 last week too ('Nightwood' colour - hand built by Gary Levinson in Switzerland, 1989/90).

Anybody had any experience with these?

Sorry to go a bit off topic on a Heritage forum, but these really are great guitars. VERY high spec.

Plus I now have my single coil needs covered - Heritage H140CM, Blade R4 and Fender 65 Deluxe Reverb... my new holy trinity :icon_sunny:

Yeah, I'm amazed at the quality of my 89 H140... they are great guitars and a real bargain also.

Congrats... and hope that you have pics soon.. guitar and amp.
