Thundersteel Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 I was looking at my HRW pups wiring, and noticed that they are wired differently than what some websites specify. For example, on the ones I have, the yellow and green wires are tied together. The brown is the hot, and the white is tied to the bare ground wire. Could this be the secret to their sound? According to other websites, including Stewart MacDonald http://www.stewmac.com/freeinfo/Electronic...i-schaller.html, the yellow wire is hot, brown & white are tied together, and the green wire is tied to the bare ground wire. Anyone know why? Anyone? Bueller? Anyone? ???
brentrocks Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 i heard something about they were frozen w/ liquid nitorgen or something like that????
GuitArtMan Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 From your description they are simply wired backwards. Since music is an AC signal, there really is no "postive" or "negative" as the signal is constantly changing directions so it really dosen't matter which is wire "hot" and which is tied to ground. This would have the same effect as swapping the white and black wires on a strat pickup. On an individual pickup, only cats, dogs, and Eric Johnson could tell the diffrence. Now if you combined it with other pickups you would have to make sure they all have the same poarity or it will be out-of-phase.
Millennium Maestro Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 hrw's are shaller based pickups. as such they should be same color coded wiring.
