Who Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 It's about an hour away. So far, this is the only pic I've seen:Not sure if the pickups are stock (or even what pickups Heritage uses). I've always heard good things about these guitars. The guy is asking $900 with original case.I'm Googling and searching now, but thought I'd throw this out to you guys for opinions. Are there ones to covet? Ones to stay away from? Thanks for any guidance you can give me.
Millennium Maestro Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Looks like a deal, the hardware is original Shaller and the pickups look to be original shaller... The neck has block inlays, normally built with traps. I dont think you can go wrong unless its damaged.
Who Posted May 19, 2014 Author Posted May 19, 2014 Thanks. He did describe it as "block inlay, rather than the more recent trapezoid inlays". I haven't gotten the year or serial, yet. I see this site has good info on decoding the serial.
Who Posted May 19, 2014 Author Posted May 19, 2014 I just talked to the owner. It's a '93. Original pickups, he believes. Not original owner. I'm driving out to take a look. At that price, is it pretty safe that I wouldn't lose money, if I chose to sell down the road?

At that price, is it pretty safe that I wouldn't lose money, if I chose to sell down the road? I'd think at worse, you'd break even. Usually, when dealing with "H" guitars, a nice flamey or quilty top is the most desirable. Solid colors seem to draw a little less interest, with the exception of goldtops of course.
Redsand Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Be careful if the seller starts talking about "clothing optional" this or that......as Craigslist is like the wild west sometimes.
Millennium Maestro Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Being a 93, I would expect a slim and fast neck. I am sure those are original pickups(4 screws=schaller)
Who Posted May 20, 2014 Author Posted May 20, 2014 Thanks for all your help, everyone. I passed on it.
Millennium Maestro Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 You should share the listing with the club! Other members may want to buy it!
Who Posted May 20, 2014 Author Posted May 20, 2014 He's now added the year to the listing, and deleted the older listing http://rochester.craigslist.org/msg/4476147423.html The Heritage H150 - $900 (Honeoye) 1993 Heritage H150 "les paul" style guitar. Made in America at the old gibson factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Good solid American guitar with dual humbucker pickups. The pickups are pretty "hot" and deliever sustain and tone on par with any gibson I've played. Solid color finish. 22 frets. Frets and neck are in very good shape with three "dings" on the crowns of the headstock being the sole cosmetic issue. They are there...that's all, and don't effect play-ability in the slightest. Bone nut installed by Bernie Lehman. Original hard shell case included. Price is firm
Who Posted May 20, 2014 Author Posted May 20, 2014 Send him an e-mail. Seems like a pretty cool guy. He might be willing to ship. I can verify that everything works, and the pots aren't scratchy. Frets do have play-wear, but "lots of life" as they say. It has a roller-bridge. Were they original?
HANGAR18 Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 It has a roller-bridge. Were they original? Possibly. Pretty much all Heritage guitars are built to someone's specific request, even if it is for stock in someone's store. I'm a sucker for red guitars, so I figured that if you bought it and got bored with it, I could buy it off of you so that you could recoupe your investment. But if you decide to pass on it, I might ping the guy to see what he thinks about shipping to Virginia.
HANGAR18 Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 The seller won't ship it so the ball is in your court. Go for it!
kidsmoke Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Who...you played it and passed on it. May I ask why? It's a unique build...may be a 150P with blocks for example. And thanks for sharing this. Looks like stock appointments with the exception of the poker chip
Who Posted May 21, 2014 Author Posted May 21, 2014 I couldn't tell for sure in the pics, but I was hoping for a more translucent red. But, the color wasn't the deal-maker/breaker. It was sort of an overall vibe. Even though it's Craigslist, and I drove a while to see it... I tried to picture it as if I was in a store. If I saw that on the wall, picked it up, played it, I'd have hung it back up. Nothing wrong with it, other than what you'd expect for its age... it just wasn't something I found very dreamy. It wasn't "me". I knew if I bought it, it would just be to try to flip it.
chico Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 I have a Millienium H155 in Translucent Red, and you do see grain, though honestly it'd show more of the flame if it were a burst. That said, I too am a sucker for red guitars and my guess is that H150 was not a translucent red, but "cherry". As mentioned it could be a H150P, which were often painted black (or other so,I'd colors, like cherry). Anyway, nice of you to check in with us, look forward to reading more from you.
Who Posted May 22, 2014 Author Posted May 22, 2014 My guess... low 9 lbs. If it were 10, I'd have noticed it felt heavy. If it were sub-9, I would have noticed that it felt light. I didn't pay attention to the weight, so I'd say it was "unremarkable", which is why I guess between 9 and 10. I'm certainly not sure.
