MartyGrass Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 I bought this album, Tango Apaixonado, made by a HOC brother and continue to enjoy it after repeated listenings. Some of the material may have been played on his Sweet 16. Regardless, it sounds great. I don't usually post any reviews, but this album deserves attention. David doesn't flaunt technique. Rather, his music is highly melodic. He uses that slight bebop hesitancy and masterfully modulates amplitude in his lines. So much of what is produced the last few decades is cacophony and dissonance without resolution. Tango is simply a joy to listen too. http://www.davidvanschoyck.com/
tulk1 Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Just came back from Dave's website. Listened to the clips on CDBaby. Wow! Love the tone, regardless of instrument used.
Tim Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Yes, I'm very impressed also (will probably end up purchasing the CD)...looks like he is playing an Eastman on the cover of the one album. Eastman's seem to be very popular with Jazz guys (I'm also on Jazz Guitar.com and it's full of threads about Eastman).
