whiskeymike Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 I'm curious if anyone knows how much "hands on" work Marv Lamb, Jim Deurloo, JP Moats, and Bill Paige do on current Heritage guitars? WM
chico Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Marv, Jim still work the floor, doing their specialties. Bill is in final setup and shipping I believe. All hands on.
pressure Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Marv rolled the neck and I think Jim built the body for a guitar being built for me thats in the shop right now.
whiskeymike Posted June 28, 2014 Author Posted June 28, 2014 That's good news. I have an Eagle Classic with several upgrades on order with them and was curious how much of the work was still by the old schoolers. Does Marv and/or Jim specialize in arch tops or do they work on everything? The anticipation for this guitar is killing me!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Royst Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 It is mind boggling to me that people would prefer a computer built guitar for a premium amount of money over having one built by hand by these gentleman that have seen everything possible in guitar making.
skydog52 Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Last week I watched Jim glue up a top for my next build and Marv was taking some nice slabs of Korina off the glue wheel. So, hell yes those hands are still busy!
Spectrum13 Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Marv rolled the neck and I think Jim built the body for a guitar being built for me thats in the shop right now. Arnold rolls most necks.... Marv does some neck rolling picks out boards and cuts them to be glued on the wheel. He builds the 357 from soup to nuts. Jim bends sides and builds some bodies and carves tops, Chris builds bodies. Bill orders parts does shipping and accounting and never touches a guitar in production. J.P. retired.

whiskeymike Posted June 29, 2014 Author Posted June 29, 2014 Guitarbean, To be more specific its an Eagle Classic in antique sunburst, one set pickup in the neck, X bracing, MOP eagle inlay on the headstock and multi ply binding. WM
HANGAR18 Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 I think I've also seen a few photos of Marv with a spray gun in his hand. It's definately his handwriting on the back of the headstock of my newest Heritage. (Serial numbers are hand written now.)
