Mikenov Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 So, after what felt like an eternity but was really only a couple of weeks, I got Ron's H535 ASB back from my tech. And did he do a fantastic job. This thing just sings! I gave this one the same bone nut treatment I have on my goldie, tone pros, and a full set up. The action is perfect, and the tone is awesome. I held out of the SD59 debate because I was waiting on this baby to get back to me but I will have to say, I love em' and I love this guitar. She doesn't really feedback out of control which was a relief but when you let her ring she sort of melts into sweet controlled feedback and the best part... she loves to sustain on E and A. A big thanks to Ron for the quick turn around and the fair dealing.. we was a great guy throughout the entire process.. especially patient with my lack of commitment. And without further delay, the pics~ http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll185/Heritageguitarpics/H535%20and%20H150/Guitarfamilyportrait010.jpg[/img] http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll185/Heritageguitarpics/H535%20and%20H150/Guitarfamilyportrait009.jpg[/img] http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll185/Heritageguitarpics/H535%20and%20H150/Guitarfamilyportrait013.jpg[/img]
big bob Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 I love the controled feedbaack.. ;D ;D 8) :afro:
High Flying Bird Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 It will be hard to go without the air rushing out of the f-holes from now on, huh? I like to dial up the amp so that when I hit the A on the 3rd string, 14th fret the note will instantly feedback. That is a satisfying feeling to be noodling along and all of a sudden the guitar sounds like a wood wind instrument. Blow out some windows Mike!
tulk1 Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 I love that whole guitar body resonating thingy. My 535 hums on the G and B. Yummy!!
fxdx99 Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Looking GOOD, Mike. Love the amps in the pic, too - tone for days, man. that Super's just gotta slay with either of the Heritages. Ya know, I've posted this in other spots, but the 555 had SD59s in it and I really liked them in the semi. I wasn't too keen on 'em in the 150, but thought they were a fine pickup in the semi, so I can see why you'd like em for sure. Rock on, dude! Great looking guits and amps!!!
High Flying Bird Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 I have to say that I like to turn the tone pot down all the way to get a "'59ish" tone sometimes. That is a righteous sound. Great for feedback. I have worked on the 150 I traded Mike. I put the Seth's in it, had the neck loosened to give it a bit of inward curve, installed the N-tune tuner in the body and one day I found a stray pick guard in my front yard. I know Mike had the tuners replaced with locking Grover's and the bone nut installed. It doesn't go out of tune too often. Dig it! Here is a pick my buddy took. He calls this guitar the, "High Chaparral." http://www.ronwarren.com/images/150a.jpg[/img]
golferwave Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Both guitars look great and obviously sound great. Way to go guys. Looks like the trade was a good one for both of you.
bolero Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 nice gtrsa, all three! what work did you do to the 535 aside from setup etc? also what is an Ntune tuner? thx!
High Flying Bird Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 also what is an Ntune tuner?thx! It is an on board tuner that fits around the volume knob's shaft. Since I have been "playing" slide I shift between standard and open tuning. This little tuner allows me to tune with out grabbing a tuner from the case, unplugging the guitar, etc. It may not be for everybody but I sure do find it handy. http://www.ntune.com/
Mikenov Posted October 20, 2008 Author Posted October 20, 2008 nice gtrsa, all three! what work did you do to the 535 aside from setup etc? also what is an Ntune tuner? thx! I put a bone nut on it, and tone pro locking hardware. I had done that to the H150 and really loved what the bone nut did to the sustain. I could really feel the difference. I like the locking hardware mostly because it means my setups last longer and I don't ding up my guitar when I change strings.
High Flying Bird Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Nice Pickguard!! ;D I thought you might like it.
peterbright Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Any suggestions for a luthier in Soutwest Florida to replace a nut etc.?
