duhvoodooman Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Gives you some idea why those Nashville cats, who are also (mostly) all about "clean, clean, clean" pretty much all have compressors on their pedal boards....
davesultra Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 I have a compressor pedal, but have no idea as to "how" it's supposed to be used. So I never plug it in.

davesultra Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Haha!!! This is exactly why I sold mine! I'm just glad I didn't pay too much for it. On the up side, it makes one helluva paperweight!
duhvoodooman Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 The point of a compressor pedal is to take some of the edge off the initial attack of a note (particularly useful on bright, "ice-picky" tones), increase sustain, and even out the volume of your play. The trade-off is a loss of touch sensitivity and dynamics, and an unnatural sound that creeps in if the compression is dialed up too high. Compressors tend to be very popular among country players, less so for rock players, and even less for blues players who tend to want maximum dynamics. Also keep in mind that overdrive, distortion and fuzz pedals, as well as an overdriven amp, add compression as a natural consequence of the signal clipping they induce.

That pedal is a copy of the Diamond Comp which is a nice compressor. Ive tried them side by side and although there is a difference its not enough for me to worry about. Tough to be a pedal builder these days.

Some of their boxes look eerily similar to the Mooer pedals.
