Traynor Reverb Master YRM-1SC

Recommended Posts

Do to all the wheeling and dealing I have been doing lately I forgot to make a NAD post on my late 70’s Traynor Reverb Master YRM-1SC. I guess better late than never.
I found this amp on CL. It had been posted for several weeks, and the owner was having no luck selling the amp. I made a quick called to Mike “Slider313”, and got his opinion. He said, "It was a great amp. It looked like it had new filter caps, but if I got it I would need to replace the original speakers." I then called the owner who was very eager to get rid of the amp because his wife was “tired of looking at it." This piece of information enabled me to get a good deal on the amp. I pick up a set of 4 Celestion G10-35 though The Gear Page, again thanks to Mike, and installed them without too much difficulty.
Here are some photos and a sound clip. I played my 357staight into the Traynor.

congrats!!

sounds good. I believe those have the good bias trem circuit, too?

that is a cool amp: I like how the top panel comes right off & you don't have to wrestle the chassis out of the cabinet to get in there

the stock speakers are the weak points on those old Traynor & Garnet amps. Celestions & Jensens etc were too expensive to import

I have heard good things about those G10-35's those are the ones that came in marshall 4x10's in the '80's right?

Cool amp, Bill; What a Hoss!! I really enjoyed my Traynor YCV-40 that I used to have. Good amps with very boring cosmetics, IMHO. But you don't buy 'em to look at 'em, right?! Well, maybe a little....

Congrats Bill, the old Traynors may be one of the few sleepers left out there. That one is a beast.

Actually I think I'll buy one today too.

The Traynor Josh has for sale is a very nice one. You should buy his.

Yes, they came out of that Marshall. The guy had the front grill and the speakers, but no cabinet.
