MartyGrass Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 I would like to increase the string spread on my Sweet 16 and my Johnny Smith to about 2 2-3/32". The string spread, for those who've never had to think about this, is the distance from the center of low to high E strings measured on the bridge saddles. One option is to get a couple of ebony saddles and notch them myself. Finding a saddle that fits a Heritage is not so easy. Most have wider spacing between the posts than Heritage and won't fit. Heritages are 2 28/32" post to post. If anyone knows where I can get a saddle that would fit, please let me know. If you have one lying around and the E string slots are at least 2 2/32" apart, please let me know. The other solution to my problem is to use a Schaller roller bridge. If you have a gold one collecting dust, please let me know. I can mount it on a base I have. I hate to buy a new bridge since many guys toss their Schaller roller bridges. They are not very popular. I'd rather buy a used one. Thanks for any help.
