Kalnoc Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Greetings, I have a Heritage guitar I purchased used back in the early 90's. I could use some help in identifying the particular model if possible. The Headstock only has "The Heritage" on it.If I've decoded the SN correctly it was made August 28th, 1988 and is not a facory second or bgn. I'll post some photos below. If I need to provide any other information, or better photos, please let me know. Thanks.
FredZepp Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 It's a first edition H-140CM with Schaller pickups and Schaller hardware. Beautiful heritage. ( have you looked in the control cavity? usually there is a sticker there that has the model number on it )
Kalnoc Posted August 11, 2014 Author Posted August 11, 2014 Thank you so much. I haven't looked into the control cavity, but I will.I I couldn't agree more, this is a beautiful guitar. Thanks again.
Beagle216 Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Wow!! Really pretty guitar!!! That flame is crazy cool!!
Gitfiddler Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Is it for sale? Some sharks smell blood every time they see a fish. (I was also wondering if it was available!)
Kalnoc Posted August 12, 2014 Author Posted August 12, 2014 Is it for sale? I don't think I'd ever be willing to part with it. It is too much fun and it has tremendous setimental value to me.
Kalnoc Posted August 12, 2014 Author Posted August 12, 2014 Oh one more thing I forgot to ask in my OP: Is the finish on this nitrocellulose? I ask because I'm shopping for a stand and some mention they shouldn't be used on guitars wi nitrocellulose finishes? If so, would it be safe to use with any stand if the stand were draped with a towel where the finish would contact the stand. I always keep a few microfiber towels in the case and could use one of those to cover the stand. If it is nitrocellulose, what types of material/surfaces should I avoid contact with. Thanks

Thanks Yes, the finish is nitrocellulose. I use a small cotton towel on my stand where the headstock rests. It seems like hotter temps can make things more likely to happen and I'm not sure if a polyester (petroleum based fabric) towel would work as well.
tulk1 Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Hercules stands are generally nitro safe. Look for the "non reactive" statement on the box or in the specs.
HANGAR18 Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 If it is nitrocellulose, what types of material/surfaces should I avoid contact with. It does have a nitro finish and never place the guitar on a vinyl seat cover for any amount of time. Hercules stands are the only stands I own.
Cajun Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 The control cavity will tell you - but pretty sure it is a H-140CM. I had a Gold Top 140 I bought as my first Heritage (which led to 5 other Heritage guitars). My only regret is that I did not keep that guitar!
