vanceen Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 The G tuning key on my Golden Eagle has fallen off and I can't find it! By "key" I mean the part that you manually turn, with it's screw and washer. Years ago the screw fell out and Heritage sent me replacement. They didn't send the washer, though, nor did they respond to my inquiry about a replacement. The key was never quite right without a washer, and that may have contributed to the screw working loose again. Anyway, does anyone have any advice about a replacement? I've e-mailed Heritage and I'm waiting to hear back. I'm willing to buy the complete tuning machine if that makes it worth someone's while. Thanks!
HANGAR18 Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Who are the tuning heads made by? Maybe you can just buy a replacement set.
MartyGrass Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Grover sent me parts free. But all I needed was a washer and screw. I
vanceen Posted August 16, 2014 Author Posted August 16, 2014 Thanks all. But I need the wing-shaped key itself as well as the washer and screw. Any suggestions?
DC Ron Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Sounds like you have the Grover Super Rotomatics, model 109G. The buttons with screws are available online as a set for $25 from guitarpartsresource.com. The washers would not be included but are probably standard Grover Rotomatic parts, which could be scavenged off of any standard Grover tuner. I don't have a spare Grover at the moment but a guitar shop will likely be able to find what you need in their parts drawer. It's possible washers from another tuner would fit, although it might not look perfect. A full set of 109Gs goes for $75 online. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
DC Ron Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 BTW, when I said a guitar shop will likely be able to find what you need in their parts drawer, I meant washers that would fit a Grover. A button would be a longshot...Good luck!
vanceen Posted August 16, 2014 Author Posted August 16, 2014 DC Ron, That is extremely helpful! Thanks.
MartyGrass Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 I suggest you call Grover (not the muppet). When I did the guy put what I needed in the mail the same day and there was no charge. If you need the key they may charge you.
