Replacing a Reverb Tank

Does anyone know if I can replace a type 9 tank with a type 4?

The one that I'm replacing is a 9BB3C1B. I cant seem to find that one but there are some 4BB3C1B tanks to be had.

Any Ideas if I can do that and what the difference is between the two?

The 4B is an exact replacement EXCEPT it only has two springs instead of three like the 9B. This is subjective, but in general I prefer the sound of a three spring reverb for the jazzier stuff I play. Others like two spring reverbs for a classic surf music sound. I've had success repairing broken reverbs as well, if you really want to keep what you have. But a replacement 4B can be had for less than $20 so there's really no economy in that. Good luck!
