ledzef Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 It finally arrived after a month and a half of back ordered. Only been playing it through the headphones no cab to hook it up to yet. Sounds decent and for $100 it definitely goes in best bang for buck category.
JeffB Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 I didnt realise those things were that small. It could easily get lost. Dont put it on the desk. Any chance of a clip? How many watts?
rjsanders Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 nifty & useful: http://www.hotoneaudio.com/nanolegacy/purplewind.html
Vanschoyck Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Really neat. Sorry about the storm that hit your room there.
t0aj15 Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Really neat. Sorry about the storm that hit your room there. Nothing wrong with that room, it looks just like my music room.
Gitfiddler Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 nifty & useful: http://www.hotoneaudio.com/nanolegacy/purplewind.html Cool and cute. Can't tell much about the headroom from the demos, however.
ledzef Posted September 1, 2014 Author Posted September 1, 2014 5 watts have to see about a sound clip.
DetroitBlues Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 I've looked at this amp and the Orange Micro Terror. I've been wanting to use one as a backup/on the fly gig rig amp. But the question is, will it hold up with a band? I've heard the Micro Terror can. I'd like to hear a comparison between the two amps...
SofaPlayer Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Just got the Thunder Bass - wanted to use it as a late night Jazz amp for use with my Golden Eagles. Unfortunately, its sound isn't inspiring at whisper volumes, at least not through my 2x10". I prefer the Yamaha THR10 for that. Now I would still keep it because I might buy a bass one day but the amp has one issue: there's a heavy plop sound through the speakers when I switch it on. Way too loud, I don't like it at all. I wonder if that is normal - does the Purple Wind have that, too? I guess I'll return mine...
ledzef Posted September 15, 2014 Author Posted September 15, 2014 Anybody know of a decent recoding app for Android? I can hook up my S5 with a 3.5mm cord in the aux input to record but need a decent app to use. The one that came preloaded sounds horrible and having problems uploading. Any ideas would help.
JeffB Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Was inspired by this thread. Laid down the big bucks. Got wee amp. Its good. I like it.
DetroitBlues Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Is that a 2x12 cab its resting on? How's the volume output?
JeffB Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Is that a 2x12 cab its resting on? How's the volume output? No, its a Mesa 112 3/4 cab. Its loud enough to annoy the neighbours. Probably loud enough for a quiet jam with mainly an od type clean.
JeffB Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 This is fun. I dont care if its not exactly sounding like a Vox AC30. Its just fun. A cheap thrill.
JeffB Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 This is a vid I made from the first time I switched it on and then going through my own weird gear.......... testing...?... rituals. So its kinda unfocused, messy and random. The amp is sitting on the Fender Concert and using its speaker, I dont think I actually had the mic on the speaker on the 1st vid. Visually seems a bit hard to one side. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3DjCqqpdqE
DOGBOY Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 So its kinda unfocused, messy and random. This from JeffB.................No way!
DetroitBlues Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Tones sound good, but maybe its just Jeff's playing.... I have a hard time recording amp'd tones because they don't sound anything like what I hear when I'm playing...
JeffB Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 The Hotone amps have an fx loop. So does my fender. Send from hotone to return in fender. Hello!! I cant see a point where this is actually useful. But its fun. I think the fun factor probably out ways tone component. ..... ...... huh! Im going to have to process that for a while.
fxdx99 Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Ha - just saw the vid. Got caught up in the humorous text, watching for what would be next. Oh, but it's an audio demo... need to listen, not read... Yeh, sounds like a fun li'l thingy. It's so... tiny!
