Johngalt1962 Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 I just registered and am posting to say "Hello" to all and tell you about my new Heritage H 535 I just put it up under JohnGalt1962 in the registry you can read about it there and see a pretty good picture of the body there as well I am loving this guitar, and though I bought it sight "un-played" from Wolfe in Florida, I am extremely happy with it I put amber top hat knobs and thumb cutters on it, as they look right to me I restrung it with Eric Johnson .011 -.052 medium Nickel Rockers and had to open up the nut slots just a tad as the lower strings are pretty big I have been playing for many years, and have played (and owned) many Gibsons, and checked out several Gibson 335's before I made this decision There is just no comparison It is not about the best guitar for the money, but about which is the best guitar, period. I'll bet that the Gibson custom shop could do as well as the Heritage if they wanted to, it is just sad that for many years, going on decades Gibson has seemed to abandoned us and charge more for the privilege of seeing sloppy fret work and poor set ups on 7 out of 10 Gibsons that come from the factory I have not seen a Heritage that was suffering from the maladies that the Gibsons seems to be plagued with Well, enough of this, I could go on, but I want to go and play My Glaswerks SOD2, Mojave Coyote HG, and Blackface Twin head has never sounded so good. Thanks Forrest

Vanschoyck Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Great looking 535 there John Galt (who is?) Welcome!

TalismanRich Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 I have been playing for many years, and have played (and owned) many Gibsons, and checked out several Gibson 335's before I made this decision There is just no comparison It is not about the best guitar for the money, but about which is the best guitar, period. I know what you mean... I sat down at Willcutts one afternoon and played 4 different 335s, all unamplified. The new ones just seemed dead compared to my 535 and one of the 335s, which of course, was a used one about 30 years old. You've chosen a winner. Enjoy!
brentrocks Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 the 535 is Heritage's flagship model....that is purdy
tbonesullivan Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 awesome finish on that one! enjoy it!
Vanschoyck Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 (Hey, don't mean to hijack this thread, but is there any chance you could post a pic of that 58 L5 you mentioned in the registry comments? Maybe in another thread?)
bluesguitar1972 Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 congrats and happy NGD beauty guitar!
Stringman Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 That is one dynamic guitar. I'm a "semi-hollow" guy for sure and this does nothing to dissuade me from liking semi's.
rockabilly69 Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Nice sunburst on that one, welcome to the club!
HANGAR18 Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Great guitar! Welcome to the club! Who is John Gault?
