MartyGrass Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 This guitar is spoken for. With the buyer's permission I changed the pup surrounds to white and replaced the bridge pup cover. The guitar came with black rings. I tried cream colored, but they were darker than the binding. The new white ones have no yellowing yet and will take some time to match the binding. How it arrived. Not much gold on the bridge pup and black bezels. Cream bezels. White bezels with a new pup cover. Fresh on the bench this morning. One pic with flash and one without.
kakerlak Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 I might've been tempted, upon receiving it w/ black bezels, to go all John Player Special with it and add a black pickguard and knobs. I think the white plastic looks much better than the cream did and would look even better with gold height adjust srews in place of the current black ones. (b/c there's always something...)
MartyGrass Posted September 26, 2014 Author Posted September 26, 2014 If I were keeping it, here's what I'd do, not that any of this is needed really. 1. White toggle switch cap 2. Gold screws on pup rings 3. Mahogany pickguard in this shape: but matched to the rims and back in wood finish and with this binding:
yuominae Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 It looks much better with the cream pickup rings. That was a good call Mark! As suggested above, gold pickup height adjustment screws look like a must... And probably different knobs too. I wonder what kind of knobs usually go on gold tops?

Oops, that should have been "It looks much better THAN with the cream pickup rings"...
