abealamguitar Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Hello everyone,I'm new to this forum and I'm the proud owner of a Custom Heritage 535, Wine Red. I'm interested in buy an Eagle Classic, my question is: How does these guitars compare acoustically? Do they sound good? Loud? I know they're based on the Gibson L5 CES, but I've never played one or heard one acoustic.I've heard some high end acoustic benedetto guitars that sound great. Like the Fratello (Like $15,000 )Thanks all!
abealamguitar Posted October 5, 2014 Author Posted October 5, 2014 Also by the way the one I'm looking at is the 2 PUP version. Thanks
NoSnowBlower Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Complex?.. perhaps. Loud?.. no,not generally. Will you be happy?. I am.. Most are. WELCOME!
Yooper Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 The 535 can cover a wider range than the Eagle Classic. But it you want to sound like Wes, and other legends, the Eagle is the way to go. I think the fewer the pickups, the louder it will be acoustically. My Eagle Classic has two, but it is loud enough for practice and louder acoustically than a semi-hollow.
17571 Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Any guitar with two pickups and controls mounted on the top will suffer acoustically, so comparing a Benedetto with a floater, or even with a single neck pickup, would be apple to oranges. The classic is a fine solid carved L-5 style instrument with less inlays and binding than a Golden eagle or a Gibson L-5 CES. They can be ordered with two pickups, one neck pickup ( the most versatile acoustically) or even with a floater. All guitars including two identical Eagle classics are different as wood and hand made construction always varies. For the price, in my opinion, nothing comes close to the "bang for the buck" in craftsmanship and tone quality of any version of the Classic Eagle. Just be sure you compare the same type instruments when deciding what you want.
