PeteSmith Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Hello Folks. I am no expert on pickups. I bought my 2010 H150 25th Anniversary new in 2011 from Wolfe Guitars if Jupiter, FL. Today I decided to remove the pickups for inspection, since a string change and a good cleaning are due. Neck pickup is stamped Seymour Duncan. Bridge pickup does not have a manufacturer stamp like the neck pickup, but has signatures of Seymour Duncan and Seth Lover. Assume its also a Duncan (obviously). Anyone have any idea what model either of these pickups? Are they 4-wire, in case I decide to do the split pickup conversion? (I looked at the wire ends in control cavity but it is difficult to tell). Are signed pickups common? Also inside the volume/tone control cavity cover in the 4th photo is the Heritage label signed by Marvin and Co. Is this common as well? Thanks, Pete http://s25.photobucket.com/user/psmith518/media/HeritageIMG_1068.jpg.html?sort=3&o=18 http://s25.photobucket.com/user/psmith518/media/IMG_0003.jpg.html?sort=3&o=1 http://s25.photobucket.com/user/psmith518/media/IMG_0004.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0 http://s25.photobucket.com/user/psmith518/media/IMG_0002.jpg.html?sort=3&o=3
thorn Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Neck is SH 1 which is a '59 Bridge is a Seth Lover which are always signed (I believe)
thorn Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Here's my buddy, Geoff Waldren, playing my Hamer Studio (I should never have sold that guitar) in his demo of the Seth Lover. I have a text into him asking about the signatures. After posting the above I think I ran across a thread somewhere about the signatures. I'll look for that too.
Number8 Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 This video should be pinned as the perfect reference for anyone who wants to know what Seths sound like. Great post.
Yooper Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Gotta love Seths. I'm still waiting for an A/B between Seths and Throbak 101s. Has anyone had both sets in the same guitar?
thorn Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 I got a text back from Geoff and to paraphrase, OEM Seth's and short-leg Seth's and some Custom's may not be signed. This video should be pinned as the perfect reference for anyone who wants to know what Seths sound like. Great post. I'll pass along your kind words. Geoff does great work. He does the video, text, playing, lighting, editing, he's a one man show.
Millennium Maestro Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Are they 4-wire, in case I decide to do the split pickup conversion? Are signed pickups common? They are 2 wire pickups and non tap able. The vintage braided wiring is a dead giveaway. The stamped/signed Seths are very common pre 2002, thought the new ones had SH-55B stickers now, just like the neck pickup. Signed control cavity tags are also common in custom builds and special models. Enjoy her in good health!

I had I hard time discerning the lead tone on that video because of the way he's chocking the notes and the overdubs, but all the clean stuff was great. And the production was one of the best I've ever seen in a video presentation. I really like the way he put that together. Hat's off to your friend for a great job.
