brentrocks Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 As many of us watched this H 147 on ebay come to a unexpectedly high ending....it was a a Russian scam-spammer who was driving up the price. The owner contacted me to do a deal outside ebay and we did. This is a 1988 H 147 Black Beauty. The 147 is to the 140, as the 157 is to the 150....its got BLING. These 147s are not exactly plentiful like 150s....you don't see them up for sale too often. This 147 is a road warrior...it has a headstock repair, it has buckle rash, it has checking. I make it sound worse than it really is though...frets are in great shape, it has a medium neck shape and is a really sharp looking axe. I bought the guitar as a project. It needed a nut, basic assembly, basic electrical, setup.....a good evening's work. I decided to go with black bobbin uncovered pickups...just like the look. The tuners are Schaller vintage style...really add a nice esthetic feel. After I got everything put together and setup, I realized the bridge hummbucker was bad, so I had to get one today from Pete Moreno to complete the project. It has a Schaller in the bridge and a Burstbucker in the neck, .022 pio caps and 500k pots. I love the feel of these 147s...lightweight and great tone.

yuominae Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Very nice! Do you know type of controls where in the two extra holes between the volume and tone pots? Happy NGD!

brentrocks Posted October 22, 2014 Author Posted October 22, 2014 Thanks guys!!! It needs a little more tweaking but it's a nice piece. It does have a maple cap.
DetroitBlues Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 The one that got away... *sniff, sniff*. Its a cool guitar for sure. Congrats Sir Brently!
gpuma Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 So, originally it had a VIP? that's what those two holes are? EDIT: you mention that in the video.
brentrocks Posted October 22, 2014 Author Posted October 22, 2014 I think they were aftermarket coil taps
DC Ron Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 I am SO glad you got this. EXACTLY where it belongs.
brentrocks Posted October 23, 2014 Author Posted October 23, 2014 Thanks Ron. I hope I can hold on to it.
