schundog Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 That is IT right there, Danny! I'd say perfect, except for the black speed knobs you mentioned. I much prefer this more traditional pickguard, too. Nicely done, enjoy it.
yuominae Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 Black reflector knobs maybe? I also think the traditional pickguard looks better than the pointy one. Whatever you do with the knobs though you've got yourself a nice axe there
KSquared Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 Wow. I have a 535 that looks almost identical, but they called mine a chestnut burst. (I actually just went to look at it to make sure it hadn't disappeared and made its way to Hangar18!) You're gonna like it.
HANGAR18 Posted October 24, 2014 Author Posted October 24, 2014 Here's my first attempt at photos. That's all I feel like doing right now. The family photo will have to wait.
ridethatbike Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Man that's fantastic. All you need is these:
Frank67 Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 gorgeous guitar! that must be pretty much the same color as my H555. Heritage just builds gorgeous and beautiful sounding guitars - enjoy yours!
HANGAR18 Posted October 28, 2014 Author Posted October 28, 2014 Man that's fantastic. All you need is these: Done. I installed some Gibson brand, black speed knobs that look just like that.
Guitarbean Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 I just commented on the family thread. That red is stunning.
rockabilly69 Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Did I miss this, it's a sweet ax! Love the wine with the chrome hardware!
RSquared Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Ah Jeez. I thought I was done GASing but after seeing this it doesn't take a fortune teller to predict a wine colored 535 in my future. Now let me see, just where did I put the phone number to Wolfe's Guitars
TalismanRich Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 As a young aspiring guitar student, I remember lusting after a red semihollow Gibson in the display case at Dee Wells Music Studio. That one evokes the same feeling. The color is absolutely GORGEOUS! I like the black speed knobs, but I don't have a problem with the tophats. The gold blends well with the wine. Enjoy!!!!
HANGAR18 Posted October 29, 2014 Author Posted October 29, 2014 I like the black speed knobs, but I don't have a problem with the tophats. The gold blends well with the wine. Cool story! I agree that the gold knobs look very good against the wine color and the cream binding. When you hold the guitar at arms length and look at the knobs, that is all the human eye can see within the eye's field of view and it all looks fantastic. But for me, I also want to look at the guitar as a whole and I want the overall appearance of the guitar to be balanced with everything matching. So, even though the gold knobs look good by themself, I installed the black speed knobs so that the knobs would match the black/chrome/red theme over the whole guitar. Now I think the guitar looks better as a whole. This most recent family photo now shows the guitar with the black knobs.
Frank67 Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Very nice collection! These Marshall boxes look somewhat intimidating - can you ever turn 'em up enough? I suppose that this blows on out of ones shoes at the first power chord? ... and how do your neighbors find that ? ... :-) (just kidding)
HANGAR18 Posted October 29, 2014 Author Posted October 29, 2014 Very nice collection! These Marshall boxes look somewhat intimidating - can you ever turn 'em up enough? I suppose that this blows on out of ones shoes at the first power chord? ... and how do your neighbors find that ? ... :-) (just kidding) Neighbors on each side moved out and put up the houses for sale. hahaha Really, they did, but probably not for all the noise my amps or my Harley make. The Marshall cabinets sound really great but I think I'm still just trying to overcome the mental trauma I experienced as a teenager where all I had was a small solid state amp and I couldn't be heard. Reminds me of the dreams about being chased by a monster and your feet can't move fast enough. Horrible! hahaha Problem solved. This setup is loud enough for me to get arrested.
Frank67 Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 :-) ... I had a good laugh - keep 'em cooking!
rockabilly69 Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 It looks much better with the black knobs!
HANGAR18 Posted November 27, 2014 Author Posted November 27, 2014 It looks much better with the black knobs! Your set-up looks awesome! Thanks! I really like the look of this one.
tonedeaf Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 Here are some pictures of my Eastman that looks very similar to your 535. I put ebony knobs on and I think they look the best: http://www.heritageownersclub.com/forums/topic/27828-fs-eastman-t186-translucent-cherry/

I think red is my favorite guitar color and the most difficult color (for me) to find.
MartyGrass Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Those are three of the best looking Heritages ever. The wood character and the finish jobs are amazing.
