A new amp for the H575LS and a new recording

Ever since going back to archtops last year, I've been experimenting with amps. I think I finally found one that makes me happy and it's not even close to the sort of thing I'm used to. It's a Gallien Krueger MB112-II combo and it's actually a bass amp. It's fairly large but with a class D power amp and a neodymium speaker, it's only 28 lbs. and I love the way it sounds in the room with the H575, very natural and uncolored. The more I play the amp the more I like it.

This was done with just the line out from the MB112. I suspect that blending this with a mic on the guitar itself would be pretty close to what I'm actually hearing in the room but for a direct line out I think this sounds pretty nice.

Excellent sound. Now for a stadium...try my Carvin BX700 at 2 ohms through two three way 15"/8"/tweeter monster Carvin Bass Cabs. Crawfish jump out of the mud when I fire it up. I have actually knocked glasses off of shelves wiht it.

boy, i'll say! that's a wonderfull tone,i always dug those gc amps, someting about'm..it sure is a good match for your style and dynamics, that line out sounds just fine, would that be something you could patch through a pa channel while you playing through the amp too? that would be more than good for a casual gig.. mic'n it for recording is gonna blow your mind..too cool!

Great tone, and well played piece of music

Some bass amps do make great archtop amps. It all depends on speaker size how they are EQ'd.

Yours sounds particularly great because of your playing skills.

Thanks to all for the many kind remarks. I feel like I'm finally completely at ease with this physical aspects of playing this guitar and with this amp, I feel like I've found a really appropriate rig for it. It handles the bottom end produced by lowered tuning and moves the kind of air in the room that maintains the acoustic nature of the instrument. It's driven my wife a bit nuts watching all of the experiments but I feel like it's all finally coming together. I also think I'm getting close to the end of the experiments and almost ready to start recording in earnest.

As song as she only goes a bit nuts and doesn't use the guitar for fireplace fuel.

that sounds amazing!!

I wish you would post some longer clips though, really like your playing :)

Coming soon. Hopefully 14 songs worth including a bunch of videos but over the period of 11 years, if you include both the guitars that we built and those we took in as trade-ins, I recorded demos for about 525 guitars. I started doing long complicated recordings and by about year 5 I was doing 30 seconds of clean and pristine tone. After a while I guess I just settled into that mindset for demos and left the real work for real music.
