basscivago Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Hello, I'm a new Italian fan, I have seen this instrument, but the serial number sound bad!! the guitar is a very nice 157 black and looks great, but the serial??? someone can help me? thanks. Lou
PunkKitty Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 I'd like to see more photos. But it looks legitimate to me.
Dick Seacup Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 The infamous "W" serial number. For that one year, or at least parts of it, the factory broke with tradition and stamped the "W" above the numeric part of the serial, instead of at the beginning (all on one line).
Millennium Maestro Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 The X year had a similar serial except it also had made in KaLAMAZOO,... see my example. Headstock repair/refinish?? Definitely not factory!

Definitely not factory! Oooh, maybe it was X I was thinking of. Getting old. And on my third beer. Probably shouldn't be posting.
pegleg32 Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Did they ever just put "USA" on any of their builds. I don't remember seeing any.
FredZepp Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 And on my third beer. Probably shouldn't be posting. But that's when we get our most interesting posts...
FredZepp Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 I don't remember a Heritage with the USA only stamp, but that doesn't seem far out of character. I've got a 140 with no serial stamp.. only written on the label. .... but that's the way they made it. It's the only one I've seen like that. The front of that headstock is right and hard to imagine anyone doing that like Kalamazoo...
basscivago Posted November 26, 2014 Author Posted November 26, 2014 Thank you all for your kindness, you are a treasure. The seller sent me these photos , however are not very detailed .Unfortunately, the guitar is 600 miles from my house .... Ciao
yuominae Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Looks good to me. I find it hard to believe that someone would go to so much trouble make a perfect copy of a 157. They rather copy a les paul custom and try for twice the money. But I'd ask for better photos of the headstock and would think twice about buying this one based on the shabby photos he sent you.
StephenK Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Have the seller take the back cover off and send you a picture of the label.
pegleg32 Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Have the seller take the back cover off and send you a picture of the label. Agreed - this would put to rest most questions.
TalismanRich Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 It looks pretty legit to me. The inlay of the headstock is right on, the 5 way binding on the body looks right, the bound pickguard is spot on for Heritage, and the nibs on the frets seem to be uniquely Heritage. It would be a lot easier to fake the inside label than to do the binding the way Heritage does it. The font on the serial number looks right as well. The 2 is slightly larger than the 0 in both photos.

The seller have to send me a picture of the back cover.... then I will be shure that it is true......
Gitfiddler Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 Looks like the real deal to me as well. The only detail that would really confirm its a used Heritage would be a cracked pickup surround. Seriously, from the photos it appears to be a guitar worth the 600 mile trek. Let us know how this plays out and good hunting.

I hope it meets all your expectations. My 157 was my first Heritage, ordered 11 years ago. I still like it!
