lavern23 Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 I am currently looking at a h150 made in 1990, I think. I looks to be in pretty good shape from the pics but above the stamped serial number there is a "2". I'm assuming it is a factory 2nd. Am I correct in this assumption? What would one be worth like this? Thanks in advance
TalismanRich Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 A factory 2nd will be the result of some cosmetic flaw. I can't remember any instances where they have shipped a structurally unsound instrument as a factory second. Many times, its difficult to even determine what the flaw is until someone points it out. That said, it will still have some impact on the value due to the "stigma" of being a 2nd. Figure it will drop the price about $100 or $150 from a standard price. I've seen H150s going for anywhere from $1000 to $1500+. For a 2nd, I would guess $950 to $1350 range depending on wear BTW, where in Ky are you located? There don't seem to be a lot of us on the board.
yuominae Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Even if it's a 2nd it looks like one of the nicer models with the flame top and matched pickguard. Is the headstock also veneered or is it the plain black one? That would impact the value as well. Don't know the condition or why it is a 2nd, but I if it hasn't got too much wear I could imagine it going at the upper range of what TalismanRich suggested. Hard to say without a full picture though.
lavern23 Posted December 11, 2014 Author Posted December 11, 2014 I'm in Louisville. It is the plain black one without the binding. I was expecting it to be bound since the top was nice and the matching pickguard.

I was expecting it to be bound since the top was nice and the matching pickguard. That's what I would have expected too. It's a pity, but it still has a nice top and matching pickguard. If it plays nice and you can get it for a price for less than 1250 why not? I just picked out what I'd be willing to pay when I said 1250, so substitute with whatever you feel comfortable paying
High Flying Bird Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Louisville, KY! Gateway to Muncie, IN. ;^) I have an H475 acoustic factory second. I put it in Marv and Jim's hands and they couldn't tell me what the defect was. If the owners can't spot it..... You might be able to get it for around $900.00 if you have someone who wants to get rid of it. It should be a fine guitar.
MartyGrass Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 BTW, where in Ky are you located? There don't seem to be a lot of us on the board. Depends on what you feel is a lot. When I lived in Evansville, this was the saying: When the stupidest person in Indiana crosses the Ohio River into Kentucky, the average IQ of both states goes up. BTW, my sister lives in Kentucky. Enough said!
MartyGrass Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Update: My sister informed me that Kentucky has a similar view about its neighbor Tennessee. And those in Tennessee believe when its stupidest citizen visits Mississippi, the mean IQ in each state goes up. Now a co-worker tells me that Michigan has the same relationship with Ohio. Michigan itself is schizophrenic in that somehow the upper and lower peninsulas have an identical arrangement. Hijack is now over.
thorn Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 We can say that about our county here. This is where their mother is also their sister and you can tell when their having sex next door because you hear the boy say, "Get off me Ma You're crushing my cigarettes."
TalismanRich Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Hey guys, I'm not falling for the bait, and I'm not going to fire back that the only thing keeping Kentucky from crushing Tennessee is that Indiana su...... Nope, not going to do it. Lavern23, is that guitar something available locally? I didn't see it on ebay, Reverb, or CL.
