Great looking guitar. I notice you have the strings top-wrapped on the stop piece. Curious if you compared the tone both ways before settling on that, and what difference it made with that staple P90 (if any).

Really nice guitar I lusted over.

You weren't alone. If only it had a Bigsby and nickel hardware.

Wow, congrats! I can't believe I didn't see his post when he offered it for trade to me... Good for you man! I'm so envious :D

The new red 530 he's got now is yours then I assume? That was a very choice axe as well!

Yes, the red H530 was mine, but I bought it from Brent several years ago, so it's really him getting an old friend back.

I played the '54 reissue by that other company, and loved it. but $4999 or so was prohibitive.

I didn't know that Heritage made their own staple pickup homage until I saw Brent's ad!

Good fortune rains down

I hate the gold...hate it, but I never let looks get in the way of a great sounding guitar!

But if it was nickel, with black mirror top knobs - oh baby, yeah (drooling with super lust).

On this guitar a Bigsby would be "back breaking"...it is already really heavy.

Wow, congratulations. So cool that both parties are equally excited about their individual acquisitions. Great start to a great new year.

That guitar is delicious! Congratulations.

I asked Terry McInturff on the phone one time what tonal differences top wrapping had vs conventional wrapping.

He said that contrary what you might think with all the extra metal the strings are touching, top wrapping gives a warmer tone. Not sure if that is good or bad on a LP/150 guitar.

Of course most people top wrap for two reasons....

1. Top wrapping assures that the strings won't hit the back of the Nashville bridge leading to possible intonation problems (this can be alleviated with the Faber Tone-Lock convertion ABR bridge, and thus no need to top wrap)

2. Top wrapping decrease the string tension and thus may be easier for some to play bends

With the above said, I am a conventional wrap guy.

The feeling is mutual.....I love that H530.

Thanks for a great transaction!

I'm glad you like the 157...it is certainly one of those collectable Heritages, like the 20th ann, 10th ann., H150 DLX, etc

I have to ask you this Craig....

Did you see any difference in that 157 VS buying a new one off the shelf at a store..... for a $1000 savings?

The reason I ask this is because I had SO MANY lowballers were telling me that because it was "used" that my asking price was way out of line. I'm not trying to stir up controversy, just want to hear it from the buyers mouth.

FWIW I thought your price one the 157 was very reasonable. It's a limited model after all and for the condition you described I think the price was right.

I almost bought that gtr off of Brent, I thought it was fairly priced

I'm glad you bought it because I cannot justify another guitar

that is a killer guitar...congrats!!!

I did it because I liked it....

Sometimes that's the best reason of all. ;)

OffTopic: Matthew McConaughey turned in an awesome performance in American Detective. Woody Harrelson wasn't bad, either.

I was telling your friend at dinner at PSP that True Detective on HBO was the finest acting (both McConaughey & Harrelson) than anything I had seen on TV OR the movies all year. Epic series, albeit the ending was a little disappointing.

On the subject of price, a fair price should be determined by what a buyer is willing to pay assuming that he is conscious enough to determine market conditions (capable of due diligence.) As the guitar sold, I'd say that was the right price.

And . . . Happy New Guitar Day!

Ah, yes, True, not American. I think that and House of Cards were the only TV I really cared to watch last year.

Then obviously, you missed the entire season of Moonshiners on Discovery, that hard hitting, in depth analysis of true Americans fighting to eke out a living in the face of persecution by "the Man". That's your loss! :laughing11:
