yuominae Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 man have found another same grade but less wild to what youmena has and this is a gibby standard... same finish i guess with this top is just amazing ! That's a nice top on the Gibby. Probably a lot more expensive than my 150 though I think you get tops like that on the recent Gibby "plus" models, (or was it the deluxe?) but you have to check on a case by case basis to see how "plus" the top really is. I saw a studio plus listed here in Japan the other day which looks like that Gibby in the picture. It cost more than my 150 (both used). Saying that nobody has bought it yet...
indravayu Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 thanks... but how about tone ? does heritage have that LP tone in it with what the people are looking for a gibson that can be found on a heritage ? I was in your position not too long ago - I had owned Heritage amps, but had never played a Heritage guitar and, being a Gibson loyalist, I always suspected that Heritages were not at the same quality level, or sounded different. Finally, a few months ago, my local GC got in a used Big Kahuna, which is somewhat similar to an H150 or H157 - I gave it a test run through a Plexi style amp and was just blown away - the guitar sounded amazing! I put a deposit on the guitar right then and there, but ended up passing on it only because, after doing more research on Heritage models, I decided that I might like an H150 even more (the Kahuna had a wrap tail bridge, but I prefer stop bar and tail piece on LP style guitars). A few weeks later I ordered an H150 online from Wolfe Guitars, taking it on faith that it would be of the same quality as the Big Kahuna. When it arrived, I was not disappointed in the slightest - in fact, the guitar exceeded my expectations. To answer your question - yes, the H150 (and I imagine similar models like the H157) does get that LP tone. I have owned numerous Gibsons - both USA and CS Historics - and in no way do I feel like my H150 lacks anything in the tone department in comparison to either brands. The differences are purely aesthetic (different headstock, slightly slimmer body on the Heritage, I think) and economic (the Heritages are a steal for what you get).

Wow, that is VERY nice. It's has the scroll inlay in the headstock, so must be a 25th anniversary model or something similar. Man, I love that cherry sunburst finish, absolutely gorgeous that one

But some people say they add some snap to the sound... Just worth keeping in mind if you are after 100% authentic LP tone. My 150 is on hold pending payment at the moment. In hindsight I shouldn't have done that as the one is slowly getting stronger against the other major currencies now If it strengthens past 115 against the dollar might have to rethink the current deal or I'll even make a loss compared to selling it in Japan (and that's saying something)...
Ldizzle Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 long time lurker, big TGPer here- my H157 has been my go-to for years... Literally the best guitar out of 100s for what I want to do. Double bound, nitro, lollar imperials/now single for hum in the neck, awesome neck, and the thing is freaking heavy which accounts for great sustain! I took the bigsby off and added a lollar p90 just because! sick sick guitars. Christmas eve green

USD is falling again as i thought it has recovered abit in a while.... but i guess the west will grab the world throne again if china wont buck up their technology and quality of work... for me quality in both tone and workmanship is really what it takes pride on spending so much money for a Heritage... i just gotten my 7 stringer recently and i cant believe i actually broke the truss rod while trying to get more relief rather than tuning the bridge height...silly me it was a damn well build luthier work i now have to painstakingly send it back to the states from singapore i may like the LP to sound a tad more aggressive no idea if the ebony fretboard will be contributing but am not looking for a rosewood fingerboard.. but again maybe someday when my ears mature. .haha
