chrischris Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Hi all, I'm after some help identifying these pickups in my 575. Anyone got any ideas...? Cheers, Chris.
FredZepp Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Great Looking 575 ! If they were installed at the factory, I'd expect the label to have a mention of them.....
Vanschoyck Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Those are interesting looking pickups; or maybe someone just swapped out the covers, like with these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Humbucker-guitar-pickup-covers-chrome-black-or-gold-/390310510131 You may have to look at the under side of the pickups themselves.
davesultra Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 They look like they could be Schaller "Golden 50 Super" pickups.
FredZepp Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 They look like they could be Schaller "Golden 50 Super" pickups. Interesting 3 screw mounting... might increase the chance they're by Schaller.
Vanschoyck Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Yes, they do look like these http://www.touchstonetonewoods.co.uk/products/electric-pickups-180/schaller-electric-guitar-pick-up-golden-50-super-series-1256.aspx
chrischris Posted January 7, 2015 Author Posted January 7, 2015 Hi guys, Thanks for the info. I removed them last night and had a look at the underside, absolutely no labeling whatsoever. I also looked at the label inside the guitar and it reads "H-575 A513"...does that help at all? I'm inclined to agree with the general consensus though, 2 screw "tilt" adjustment suggests Schaller to me, and whilst I know they used EMG's for a time there there is no sign of any branding on them. Does anyone have any ideas as to the value of this baby? It is in great condition, a few tiny chips to the corners on the rear of the headstock, and a few light scratch marks to the rear of the body. Whole top and headstock of the guitar is covered with Lacquer checking too (but I find that kind of charming). It's a "G" serial by the way so that makes it 25 years old, made in Jan too so nearly to the day. Thanks for the help, loving this forum, very informative! Cheers, Chris.
yuominae Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 I have no clue as to value, but it's a nice guitar for sure! About the pups, do the brackets allow 4 screws? Or just 3? Schaller brackets normally have 3 holes in each bracket with the middle one being smaller than the other two... Also the ones I've seen had a 4 connector lead wrapped in crappy grey plastic (that's likely to have changed over the years though...).
FredZepp Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Is it possible that " A513 " is actually just a poorly written " ASB " ... = Antique Sun Burst .. the finish.. I also looked at the label inside the guitar and it reads "H-575 A513"...does that help at all?
chrischris Posted January 7, 2015 Author Posted January 7, 2015 Hi chaps, Is it possible that " A513 " is actually just a poorly written " ASB " ... = Antique Sun Burst .. the finish.. Think you are correct on this one, looked at the photo I took of it and the 5 in "575" is different to the S in "ASB". I have no clue as to value, but it's a nice guitar for sure!About the pups, do the brackets allow 4 screws? Or just 3? Schaller brackets normally have 3 holes in each bracket with the middle one being smaller than the other two...Also the ones I've seen had a 4 connector lead wrapped in crappy grey plastic (that's likely to have changed over the years though...). The brackets on the Pickups have two holes on one side and just the one on the other, the surround has 3 holes both sides. Having just 2 holes one side of the pickup says Schaller to me. The photo in the link to the "Golden 50 Super's" that Vanschoyck posted shows 3 holes, but maybe they've changed over the years...? I think that's what I will think anyway, unless anyone else can offer an opinion. Thanks again all
