jimsoloway Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Some of you have seen this elsewhere but this site was down when I shot this with the new custom 575. It was at 3 am on Christmas night with my wife out of town with her brother's family and I was home dealing with a serious illness in the family. For those who are unfamiliar with this guitar, it has a spruce top, mahogany back, sides and neck, a 25.5" scale length, a rosewood board with no markers and the body is only 2 1/4" thick at the rims. I keep it permanently tuned down one full tone to D standard. There was no amp used in this recording and no EQ after the fact. The guitar is just plugged directly into the recording interface and I hit record.
PunkKitty Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Beautiful playing, Jim. The guitar sounds great too.
pressure Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Nice playing Mr. Soloway. That guitar suits you. How did you record that? What interface into what recording device.
Dick Seacup Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 The tonal range on that guitar is fantastic. The lows are clear but powerful, the highs crystalline and articulate. Great sounding guitar, outstanding playing. I should learn how to fret cleanly one of these years.
jmac Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 wow.. beautiful playing and tone. Thank you for sharing.

Sorry it took so long to get back. It's been a really difficult time. The interface is a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. Nothing really fancy but it seems to work reasonably well. It's running into an older version of GarageBand on a Mac Book Pro. My thanks to all for the kind words. It's a wonderful guitar and it's helped me stay sane when that turned out to be a real challenge.
ridethatbike Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 That is fantastic! I don't know what it was, but that piece really moved me. It's nowhere near the genre of music I typically listen to...and it makes me want to go listen to some more. That was really beautiful. I think that clearly illustrates the difference between playing guitar and making music.
sfax214 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Simply beautiful. Getting a Heritage will be the easy part, playing like that will take some time.
