jimsoloway Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 This is just 10 seconds long. It was a test to see a) if I could get rid of most of the hiss that I've been fighting for over a year and if I could get a decent recording of the one out on the Gallien Krueger MB112 combo. I really like this amp but it's been a real struggle figuring out how to record it (mostly because of all the noise I've been getting in all of my recordings). The guitar is the first long scale Heritage H575. There's so much noise around here that it's hard to tell, but it seems to me that it came out pretty well. https://soundcloud.com/jim-soloway/h575-maple-gk-mb112-combo-line-out-01-22-15
Dick Seacup Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Playing it on my 8" monitors and I can't hear any significant amounts of noise or hiss. That guitar sounds awesome.
TalismanRich Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Jim, if that level of hiss is considered bad, then magnetic tape must drive you NUTS! I cranked up my 8" Rubicons and I could hear more what sounds like room noise than hiss. Lots of full bodied goodness there.
HANGAR18 Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 I'm cheating. I've got BOSE computer speakers. I can hear it but it's not bad. But I can't help wondering what would happen if you layered a bunch of different guitar lines together in the recording. Would the hiss you are talking about be multiplied?
