Beagle216
I have a new Wah incoming since the RMC Picture Wah sold. I am excited about it. I loved the clarity and vocal quality of the Wah, it just had no way for me to tame the treble without adjusting the pot in such a way that it took the life out of it. It was a great Wah with my old amp, but I wanted more flexibility/ tweak ability. With distortion/ fuzz it was just ok, it wasn't great. I have been passively searching for a new Wah for the last year or so. I got tired of the search because everything out there was just the same pedal just re-packaged as new, or with one additional useless feature. When I stumbled upon Xotic's new Wah, I got excited because they really had done something unique. It has an impressive feature set and it is incredibly simple, but also incredibly versatile. I love that it has a Bias control, Q control, and an Active 2 Band EQ for Treble and Bass. And then when I listened to their comparison video which I included below, I was sold. I listened to twelve others and was also extremely impressed how it retains its vocal quality even when overdriven. I will provide an update when I receive her. Here is the rest of the description for people who want the technical data. With the Xotic XW-1 you don’t get one or three sounds in one pedal, you get unlimited sounds with unique controls that shape and contour your sound the way you hear it! The adjustability and flexibility of the XW-1 makes this one of the most versatile wah pedals available today! FEATURES: Self-lubricating nylon bushing pivot for quiet and smooth operation with fully-adjustable rocker pedal tension. Gold contact relay true bypassing, which allows for transparent true bypass tone, while incorporating ultra reliable switching with minimum one million life cycle. 20% smaller footprint than conventional wah pedals. Fully adjustable Wah-Q and Bias controls and a two-band EQ with +/-15 dB center-detent potentiometers optimize the voicing for different playing styles and gear. Fuzz friendly buffering circuit assures a great sounding wah tone with your favorite fuzz pedals.
DetroitBlues
I've often struggled with Wah's myself. I have so many of them, but I always find myself going back to the first one I had. GCB95F Crybaby Classic. Some wah's sound great with a clean amp, some with a dirty amp, some with a Strat, and some with a Les Paul. But it's damn hard to find one that works well with all four. I've had Budwa, GCB535Q, 95, Vox 847, and Vox 845. I keep going back to my 95F, its just tough to beat. This one sounds cool, I'd be curious to know how it sounds with different guitars and amps. Beagle216
I have tried all the ones you mentioned as well. Never quite fell in love with any of them. The RMC Picture Wah was the closest I ever came to the perfect Wah. I owned it for two years and though it would be a permanent fixture, after the first year, the honeymoon wore off and I wanted more versatility. I am hoping this is the RMC Picture Wah plus a lot of flexibility. The controls should allow for versatility with different amps and guitars. I will report back after I get the chance to play it. Fingers crossed it looks like just what the Dr. ordered.
rockabilly69
If I was to make a call on the videos you posted I would say the Exotic is too thin, but then I checked out this video, and it showed it in a different light!
Beagle216
If I was to make a call on the videos you posted I would say the Exotic is too thin, but then I checked out this video, and it showed it in a different light! Yea, this is one of the 11 or so that I could find. I really like the range of tones that you can get out of it and it seems that there are not a whole lot of people who have one yet. I am hoping it will live up to my expectations. From the videos I have seen it seems impressive as hell.
Beagle216
I LOVE THIS WAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go out and try one. It is the best wah I have ever placed my foot on. Very versatile tones, the videos nail it! Awesome with all my dirt pedals, still vocal. No clicking noises from the switch, and it is SMOOTH. All the side adjustments make an audible difference and I am extremely happy with this pedal. I have not even messed with the internal switches and I am in heaven. This has earned a permanent place on the board. It is everything I was hoping it would be. Chicago Music Exchange was great to deal with as well. They gave me a deal on the pedal and I am super appreciative. Is it an expensive wah? Yes. Is it worth it? Every penny!
