schundog Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 A couple years ago at PSP, I was lamenting the fact that the input jack on my 575 was at the endpin, making it impossible to install Schaller Strap Locks on the rear of the guitar. Steiner, the Knower-Of-All-Things 575, didn't say a word, just stuck his stogie in his mouth, turned my guitar around, and pointed at one of the three small screws near the input jack that hold the trapeze bridge to the back rim of the guitar. I nodded, but I was too chicken to try it for some time. Well, I finally did it, but, unfortunately, because I'm a really big guy, a normal sized nice leather strap that works fine for me on smaller guitars like my solidbodies simply is too short for me to use with a semi-hollow, and certainly too short to use with a 575. I'd be wearing the guitar up under my chin. Therefore, I have to use a longer adjustable strap. These longer straps have a much wider end on them, and made it impossible to attach the strap and the guitar cable. CRAP! Finally, tonight, I just trimmed up the leather end on the longer strap, and VIOLA! It's still a tight fit, but definitely doable. Here's some pics of what I'm talking about.
schundog Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 Nice pics. ;^) Innerweb problems, smartass....
Steiner Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Beautiful guitar; even from the bottom up! Nice work.
High Flying Bird Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Beautiful guitar; even from the bottom up! Nice work. It sure is.
Kuz Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 That's exactly the same procedure I used with my Cust 575 and Florentine GE. It works like a champ, don't it??!!!
schundog Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 Beautiful guitar; even from the bottom up! Nice work. It sure is. Thanks guys, I sure think so. Apparently nobody else did, as it hung on the dealer's wall for over a decade before I rescued it. Of course, we all have our own personal preferences. I showed it to Marv at PSP one year, and he was very gracious. Later that day, he was holding a different SSB finished guitar, pointing out a feature, and said "Can you believe some people actually like this ugly color?!" or something like it. Too funny. I'll take ugly like this all day long.....
Gitfiddler Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Nicely done, Brian. And what does Marv know about guitars anyway?!
schundog Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 Your 525 is what put me over the edge, Tim!
Steiner Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Yea. Ugly. That is the pinnacle of beauty! Nice shots!
RJLII Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I just had the guys add a rim jack to my old H-550 so I could convert the strap button on the end pin to a straplock. It worked out well.
