ADKJazz Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Thanks to DOGBOY, I've joined the club with a '99 Prospect. I'm almost always let down by guitars that are bought without first playing, but there aren't a ton of these floating around. So I took a chance. No letdown here, this baby is smoking hot! Probably the most "lively" guitar that I've ever played. I actually just last week almost picked us an ES-339 used for around 2k and am so glad that I didn't. This Heritage blows it away for much less cash. It's got a perfect slim neck with a nice comfortable carve to it. The floating block is a great design. I was warned that the Railhammer pups might be too "HiFi." That was my initial response, but after some tweaking, I'm really liking them. They maintain their tone with changes on the volume knob and respond well to tone adjustments, which is a huge plus in my book. I'm a believer in "mojo." I have sold many nice guitars; PRS, Gibson, high end Ibanez', because they felt lifeless in my hands. I immediately felt the life in the Prospect. That is really my most important criteria for an instrument. I'm playing through a Re-issue Supro Dual-Tone and getting some very good tones out of the combination.
Steiner Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Wow! Excellent first post. A hearty welcome and Happy New Guitar Day to you ADKJazz! Nice snatch.
DOGBOY Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Awesome Pete, nothing not to like about that guitar. Sounds like you found the sweet spot on those Railhammer pickups, seems they would do well for the Jazzers. As that was the first time I ever shipped someone a guitar I'm just glad it made "waaayyy" upstate NY in one piece!. Welcome aboard and speaking of that................nice fish!!!
PunkKitty Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Congrats! I love my Prospect. I hope yours is as good as mine.
FredZepp Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Yeah... I had the same experience when I got my Prospect. They are alive in a way that is different than other semi-hollow guitars. It's great that you found that one... sounds like it's the right one for you. Welcome to the club.
ADKJazz Posted March 22, 2015 Author Posted March 22, 2015 Thanks for the welcome. I must admit, I'm being a bit presumptuous with my name. I've been in a three piece blues band for about 3 years and a blues rock band before that. I'm quitting the band to study jazz and music and am just beginning that long journey. My main influences are Mike Moreno, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and Chris Potter (killer sax player). It really helps to have the right tool to be inspired by while we learn and continue to try and create our music.
Conneazoo Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Looks great! Play and enjoy it for a long time to come.
tulk1 Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Heritage Prospect, my favorite guitar. Hard to see the pic, but you just can't go wrong with a Prospect. Enjoy!!
DOGBOY Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Heritage Prospect, my favorite guitar. Hard to see the pic, but you just can't go wrong with a Prospect. Enjoy!! Here's a better shot from the former owner!
rockabilly69 Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Welcome aboard! Really nice guitar ADKJazz, but that fish in your avatar, WHOA!!!
ADKJazz Posted March 24, 2015 Author Posted March 24, 2015 Thanks guys, this is the guitar I've been looking for. Now if I could only play the thing! rockabilly69, that's a post-spawn steelhead caught bouncing a fly from a drift boat. We were fishing 6lb test with a noodle rod. What a great fight, once she hit the current all I could do is hold on! I've been out Western NY 3 times for steelhead fishing and for me, it's the ultimate. Although hitting the West Branch of the Ausable here in the Adirondacks is a close second! Here's an Ausable River brown from last year....
